Geography & History Teacher
A teacher registered to teach in South Australia, is sought for the start of Term 1 2010. The teacher would need to be qualified to teach Geography and History.

An understanding of Middle School (Years 8, 9 and 10) methodologies is essential.

The teacher would be responsible for the delivery of the designated curricula in Geography and History. The primary focus of the teaching would be carried out in middle school classes. The successful applicant would have sound knowledge of middle schooling and appropriate pedagogy for Year 8 – 10 students.

Teachers play a vital role in the pastoral care of students within the Middle School House system. The pastoral care includes, monitoring student behaviour, advising them as required and communicating the progress and needs of students to parents and appropriate staff members. Involvement in school worship sessions, house sport and fund raising activities are but a few examples of the activities of the pastoral care system at Trinity College. Seeking advice from other teachers within the College, such as the student counsellor, and from external agencies is required from time to time to ensure that the needs of all students are being met.

Teachers at Trinity College are also required to carry out yard supervision duties, participate in extra curricular activities and attend staff meetings outside of the normal lesson time of the academic day. Extra curricular activities offered to students include debating, choir, concert bands, drama productions, Christian clubs, and a variety of sports. Involvement in extra curricular activities is an expected part of a teacher’s work load at Trinity College. Some of these activities take place on a Saturday



Assessment and reporting of student achievements are an important part of the teacher’s responsibilities. Continuous assessment of bookwork and learning activities is combined with
regular testing to evaluate learning. Parents are informed of student progress through written reports, parent interviews and diary notes.

All teachers are expected to support the Christian ethos of the College. It would be hoped that the successful applicant would be able to actively contribute to the Christian life of the College.

The successful applicant will join a vibrant faculty and school team. Collegiate advice will be provided by the Head of the Faculty and supervision will be under the direction of the School Principal.
