The school balances its formal curriculum with an emphasis on growth mindset, inquiry learning, the Arts and creative thinking.<br><br><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p>The Janitor/Groundsperson will support the school in ensuring that the school’s grounds, buildings and equipment are well maintained, well presented, physically secure, compliant with all appropriate regulations and provide a safe environment for the school community.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>This appointment is temporary in nature as it replaces an employee on leave or secondment.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Benefits and Opportunities</strong></p><ul><li>A positive and collaborative workplace culture</li><li>Onsite parking</li><li>Strong knitted community of staff and students&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p><i>Buildings</i></p><ul><li>Security of buildings, checking the safety of the grounds and equipment and attending to the opening and closing of school gates and pedestrian flags.</li></ul><p><i>Repairs and General Maintenance</i></p><ul><li>Assists in maintaining school buildings/grounds in a tidy manner and reports items and equipment needing repair.</li><li>Replaces light globes/lamps/tubes, performs handyman repairs and minor carpentry and minor plumbing - not requiring a tradesperson</li></ul><p><i>Gardens and grounds</i></p><ul><li>Maintenance of grounds including, mowing, spraying of weeds, using a blower vacuum, trimming trees and hedges, planting and other duties associated with general lawn and garden maintenance.</li></ul><p><i>Other duties</i></p><ul><li>Collecting and emptying rubbish bins, organising recycling.</li><li>Deliver all parcels, boxes and incoming supplied to the proper offices and classrooms.</li><li>Relocating school furniture when required</li><li>Liaising with and assisting all tradesmen and contractors when site manager is off site.</li><li>Other duties as directed by the Principal</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></p><p>Successful applicants for the position will have:</p><ol><li>A commitment to the goals of Catholic education and a readiness to foster the aims and vision of the College in the wider community</li><li>Applies knowledge and skills to a range of tasks and roles</li><li>Usually works within routines, methods and procedures, but some discretion is involved in selection of equipment, work organisation, services and actions</li><li>Follows the day, weekly and termly checklist of jobs as provided.</li></ol><p><i>Please refer to the role description for an in-depth detail regarding criteria and skill set required.</i></p><p><strong>Other Eligibility Criteria&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be eligible to apply for this position.&nbsp;</li><li>Appointment is subject to satisfactory employment screening for child-related employment in accordance with CECG policy.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><br><strong>Application Process</strong></p><p>Applications are invited from interested candidates able to demonstrate a commitment to the vision of Catholic Education.</p><p>Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experience as outlined in the Position Description.</p><p>This position involves working with children.
