Provide in-class assistance and intervention small-group activities for students with specific learning needs.

<p>Fixed Term part-time – 32.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per year (School term time only) to replace an employee on leave. Our Mission is to provide an exceptional education for students Preschool to Year 12. </p><p><b>About the role </b></p><p>We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide in-class assistance for individuals and small groups of students with specific special learning needs in our Preparatory School. You will support classroom teachers to establish an effective learning environment and to tailor learning experiences and materials to support all students. </p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience </b></p><ul><li>Experience working on a 1:1 basis with a non-verbal student and using Augementative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices to support communication, especially experience using LAMP words for life application (highly desirable). </li><li>Knowledge and experience of using &#39;Key Word Sign&#39; and the positive reinforcement &#39;Marte Meo&#39; method (highly desirable). </li><li>Certificate III in Education Support (as minimum or equivalent) </li><li>Demonstrated success in providing student support </li><li>Creative and demonstrates initiative </li><li>Excellent ICT skills in the classroom and for administrative tasks </li><li>Sound administrative skills </li><li>Current certifications in Provide First Aid </li><li>Awareness of the Privacy Act. </li></ul><p><b>​ Key Selection Criteria: Personal Qualities </b></p><ul><li>Initiative and the capacity for self-direction, while at the same time contributing to the output of the larger team. </li><li>A positive, enthusiastic team member with superior organisational skills, the ability to set goals and prioritise work, and the capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks. </li><li>An open and friendly disposition and a sense of humour. </li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students and parents from a range of age groups, experiences, cultural and linguistic backgrounds. </li><li>Ability to ensure confidentiality. </li></ul><p>A position description is available on our website under Careers - www.westminster.school </p><p>The current Full Time equivalent salary is $61,080 per annum however we are in the final stages of negotiating a new Enterprise Agreement and this rate will increase. </p><p>For further information about this role please contact humanresources&#64;westminster.sa.edu.au </p><p>To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter addressed to Mr Simon McKenzie, Head of Preparatory School. </p><p>Applications will only be accepted when submitted through Seek.
