<p>Established in 1881, The Rockhampton Grammar School (RGS) is one of the oldest schools in Australia. As Central Queensland’s best performing school for academic excellence, RGS also offers a huge range of co-curricular activities including sport, music, dance, agriculture, outdoor education and much more.</p> <p>Rockhampton is a city that's all about liveability, with affordable country living and all the big city advantages, river and mountain views, a thirty-minute drive to some of Queensland’s great beaches, and an easy commute to work - all in one place.</p> <p><em><strong>The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking to appoint a passionate Head of Netball to lead the School's thriving Netball programme.&nbsp;</strong></em></p> <p>This is a full-time, permanent position working 38 hours per week with a requirement to work 44 weeks per year. A competitive salary is on offer, and is dependent on if the role is a teaching or non-teaching role, in accordance with the RGS EBA.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">This position is offered as either a teaching or non-teaching role. If the successful applicant is offered the position as a teaching role, a teaching load will be assigned specific to the experienced teaching area of the candidate.</span></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">If the candidate is a non-teaching staff member, the remainder of hours will be made up with administrative duties related to this role.</span></p> <p>To be considered for this role you will have significant Netball experience, either as a coach, athlete or administrator, ideally producing successful results with school-aged athletes. Your excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal communication skills will allow you to form effective working relationships with athletes, their coaches and parents. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the success of young Netball players at one of Queensland's leading schools.</p> <p>The Head of Netball must be passionate about Netball and the development of netball within The Rockhampton Grammar School. The main functions of the role are to support and encourage the participation of netball at RGS through leading staff and students in representing the School positively, to develop the skills of every member in an effort to reach excellence and provide members with opportunities to progress in the sport during and beyond RGS.</p> <p>The Head of Netball is expected to oversee all aspects of the club including auxiliary staff such as coaches, maintenance, catering and fitness instructors. The Head of Netball is responsible and accountable for the performance of the club and its members.</p> <h4>KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES&nbsp;</h4> <p>Head of Netball duties may include, but are not limited to:</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Representing the School</span></p> <ul> <li>Communicate the vision and purpose of the club effectively</li> <li>Have close and positive relationships with the Rockhampton Netball Association</li> <li>Attend Parent Support Group monthly meetings and lead conversations about RGS Netball</li> <li>Ensure the Club is managed productively:</li> <li>Lead the coaches, umpires, players and volunteers in working to meet the goals, future direction and priorities of the club;</li> <li>Submit an annual report to be presented to the committee at the Annual General Meeting;</li> <li>Organise and delegate tasks to meet goals;</li> <li>Create and actively maintain positive club cultures</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Development</span></p> <ul> <li>Design and reflect on programs using research and up-to-date information that is in-line with Netball QLD/Australia KPIs;</li> <li>Coordinate programs that aim to improve skills of members in every area (coaching, umpiring, volunteering, playing);</li> <li>Provide feedback to members to assist in the effectiveness of programs;</li> <li>Manage talent identification programs that encourages the selection of holistic athletes;</li> <li>Liaise with auxiliary staff to support the development of a range of areas (nutrition, mental health and fitness);</li> <li>Design and conduct clinics that aim to improve development of members;</li> <li>Implement sub-programs such as leadership for Captains (of teams and of Netball Captains)</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Management</span></p> <ul> <li>Allocation of coaches to appropriate teams;</li> <li>Organise/Facilitate competitions (weekly, carnivals and QISSN) and tours;</li> <li>Assist with behaviour management and player/parent/other team conduct to support members;</li> <li>Performance discussions and management with players, coaches and umpires</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Communication</span></p> <ul> <li>Publish communication on a range of media including Facebook, emails, notices and assemblies to enhance knowledge of club happenings</li> <li>Work closely with Director of Co-Curricular and other TICs and staff</li> </ul> <p>In addition to the above, a Teacher is expected to (only applicable to Teacher):</p> <ul> <li>design and implement curriculum programmes that embrace School's Learning Framework;</li> <li>create a positive classroom environment that enhances student learning;</li> <li>establish and review students' learning goals/outcomes and modify curriculum programmes accordingly;</li> <li>continuously reflect on teaching practices and full participate in the School's Personal Learning Programme;</li> <li>build relationships and share teaching insights with colleagues in order to coordinate activities for students;</li> <li>communicate with parents about student learning;</li> <li>demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to professional development;</li> <li>contribute to the School and wider community through involvement in co-curricular activities;</li> <li>maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.</li> </ul> <p>N.B This position description contains the most important duties and tasks regarding the job to be done. It is not an exclusive/exhaustive list.</p> <h4>REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE</h4> <ul> <li>Expertise in the sport of Netball;</li> <li>Coaching Qualifications in Netball (required);</li> <li>Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, coaches and sports associations, contractors, teachers and service providers;</li> <li>Excellent time management skills&nbsp;</li> </ul> <h4>REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES</h4> <ul> <li>Current Full QLD Driver’s License</li> <li>Safeguarding Children Online Training Certificate</li> <li>(In case of a Teacher) Registered with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) alternatively (in case of non-teaching) a current Police Check and Blue Card;</li> </ul> <h4>SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE&nbsp;</h4> <p>The School takes child protection seriously, and as a staff member or volunteer of The Rockhampton Grammar School, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Practice and Behaviour Guidelines.
