This role supports the diverse learning needs of students in the Primary School. They work closely with the Head of Campus, Inclusive Education Coordinator for the campus, and classroom teachers in implementing classroom strategies, and supports, in line with individual education plans. This role will be working with Foundation Year, so kindergarten or early years’ experience preferred.

In order to meet the diverse needs of our students over their time in the Preshil community, we have a team of professionals working together to support this journey.</p><p>Role Summary</p><p>The Learning Assistant supports the diverse learning needs of students in the Primary School. They work closely with the Head of Campus, Inclusive Education Coordinator for the campus, and classroom teachers in implementing classroom strategies, and supports, in line with individual education plans. This role will be working with Foundation Year, so kindergarten or early years’ experience preferred.</p><p>Areas of Accountability</p><p>Student Support </p><p>Administration </p><p>Communication </p><p>Other Duties </p><p>Internal Relationships</p><p>Inclusive Education Coordinator, Head of Campus, Classroom Teachers</p><p>STUDENT SUPPORT</p><p>The Learning Assistant will </p><p>support children to access the curriculum, in line with their Individual Education Plans.</p><p>assist children in the development of appropriate social skills and self-regulation skills in line with their Individual Education Plans.</p><p>foster appropriate social interaction with peers and staff and maintain Child Safe Standards when interacting with all members of our student cohort</p><p>ADMINISTRATION</p><p>The Learning Assistant will </p><p>maintain documentation of supports provided, in line with the requirements of the NCCD, including maintaining and updating administrative records of students </p><p>assist children to access classroom materials and/or content, including building resources, such as summaries, glossaries and scaffolds as directed by classroom teachers and the Learning Support Coordinator</p><p>contribute to Student Support Group meetings as required</p><p>assist with diagnostic assessments</p><p>COMMUNICATION </p><p>The Learning Assistant will </p><p>connect with all members of the Preshil community in a manner which respects and celebrates the individual as unique. Where talents and strengths are nurtured, and challenges presented as an opportunity to grow. </p><p>communicate using language which is non-judgemental, and which fosters a positive growth mindset.</p><p>assist children to communicate their needs with staff and peers, where there is a social communication issue</p><p>OTHER DUTIES </p><p>The Learning Assistant will </p><p>participate in the pastoral care, growth and development program and other special programs of the School</p><p>attend staff meetings as required</p><p>complete required supervisory duties</p><p>ensure administrative tasks are accurate and up to date</p><p>assist with planning and timetabling to meet individual needs for support.</p><p>assist with other duties as required by the Principal</p><p><br /></p><p>This role description is a guide only and is not intended to be an exhaustive or exclusive list of the duties attached to this position. Our school undertakes several screening tests to ensure the appropriate protection of children in our care.
