Bellfield College is an independent co-educational school, educating young Australians in a nurturing and affirming community. <p>Mentors work in line with the College’s tri-partnership programs, including the Character Strengths Builder program and IGROW mentoring strategy, to deliver life skills, Islamic ethos-focused support to K-12 students while liaising with the Heads of School, teachers and parents. They provide inclusive opportunities for students to grow and reach their full character potential to become authentic Australian Muslim citizens. </p><p>Part-time and full time positions available commencing in term 2, 2024. Generous remuneration above the published 2024 MEA rates.<br /></p><p><b>The Mentoring program at Bellfield College offers</b></p><ol><li>Relevance: it is student-centred and personalised in line with the ethos values of the College</li><li>Flexibility: it is tailored to the school&#39;s parent partnership and meets varied needs of students</li><li>Complementary: it supports other methods of learning and wellbeing through one-on-one social-emotional support as well as group mentoring workshops</li><li>Feedback: it provides a sounding board to encourage compassionate reflection and open understanding</li><li>Empowerment: it encourages students to develop self-confidence, social skills and spiritual growth.</li></ol><p><b>When mentors and students form a trusting relationship, positive outcomes can include:</b></p><ol><li>increased confidence and communication skills</li><li>improved engagement with learning and school</li><li>enhanced social skills, values and character strengths</li><li>students are supported to develop plans for the future</li></ol><p>Mentors have a pivotal role in fostering a positive and authentic relationship with their student mentee.</p><p><b>Mentors are required to:</b></p><ol><li>have excellent communication skills, including social and emotional intelligence </li><li>be respectful and non-judgmental of young people </li><li>be dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people </li><li>be reliable and work in a professionally structured workplace </li><li>be committed to the mentoring program and professional development goals </li><li>understand and respect the boundaries of the mentoring relationship </li><li>work in teams across various spheres of student well-being </li><li>annotate notes, reflect on student progress and follow through support plans </li><li>comply with College policies and maintain confidentiality  </li></ol><ul><li><b>Hours of Work: </b>38 hours per week, 8.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday. </li><li><b>Annual Leave: </b>Four weeks annual leave. It is an expectation that leave will be taken in the school holidays during the College closure period in December and January.</li></ul><p>Staff employed as Mentors at Bellfield College may be required from time to time, to work reasonable additional hours to fulfil the duties of the position.
