Marcellin College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and committed person to the role of Science Laboratory Technician. Start Date: 20th May 2024 (or negotiable) Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8.30am to 3.30pm Thursday 8.00am to 12.00pm

<p> </p><p>Marcellin College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and committed person to the role of Science Laboratory Technician.</p><p> </p><p>The Science Laboratory Technician must be dynamic, well-organised and take initiative in the role, having the ability to work independently and as part of the Science faculty.</p><p><b>You will be required to:</b><br /></p><p>Give personal witness to Catholic values in carrying out the day-to-day duties of the position </p><p>Manage the Science laboratories and their resources in an efficient and ordered manner </p><p>Work in cooperation with the Science Coordinator in a busy and vibrant Science Department </p><p>Work with the Science teachers in the day-to-day management of the Science Laboratories and in promoting quality practical work in the classroom </p><p>Support Science teachers in the classroom by providing technical expertise when required.</p><p> </p><p><b>Key Tasks:</b><br /></p><p>Preparing and organising equipment and materials for Junior and Senior classes through the Risk Assess Portal<br /></p><p>Providing advice and assistance to teaching staff regarding matters of laboratory safety </p><p>The proper care, handling, labelling, and maintenance of all chemicals including arranging disposal. </p><p>Safe handling, maintenance and care of all scientific and laboratory equipment, electrical goods and instruments </p><p>Computing Hazardous Substances Risk Assessment forms and obtaining relevant Material Safety Data Sheets and updating these as per current WHS guidelines </p><p>Conducting regular stock-takes, inventories and audits of both chemicals and equipment </p><p>Performing routine servicing and maintenance of equipment </p><p>Arranging repair where necessary of equipment by external agencies </p><p>Caring for fauna and flora following current regulations </p><p>Cleaning and returning to store all apparatus used in practical work periods </p><p>Cleaning of laboratories, preparation and storage areas and maintaining a neat and ordered storage system </p><p>Ordering and purchasing ad-hoc consumables for practical investigations </p><p>Other duties as directed by the Leader of Learning Science or the Business Manager. </p><p><b>Start Date:</b> 20th May 2024 (or negotiable)</p><p><b>Hours: </b></p><p><b>Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: 8.00am to 3.30pm </b></p><p><b>Thursday 8.00am to 12.30pm </b></p><p> <br /></p><p><b>WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE</b><br /></p><p> </p><p>This role is classified as a child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.<br /></p><p> </p><p>Applicants MUST include the following information as part of their application:<br /></p><p>A letter introducing yourself and an outline of the reasons for your interest in the position (1x A4 page maximum). </p><p>Resume outlining qualifications and experience. </p><p>The names and contact details of 3 referees</p><p> </p>
