<p>St.Narsai Assyrian Christian College is a growing 7 – 12 Independent School, catering to over 670 students in emerging South West of Sydney. The College is located within close proximity to the M7.</p><p>The College seeks to appoint an experienced and qualified counsellor</p><p>This is a full-time position commences from term 2, of 2019.</p><p><i>Salary will be as per the Independent Schools Counsellors/Psychologists Salary Scale, commensurate with qualifications and experience</i>.</p><p><b>Successful applicants: </b></p><ul><li> Have formal qualifications in psychology, social work, or counselling</li><li> Understanding of, and support for the ethos of Assyrian schools</li><li> Registration with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA)</li><li> Fluent in Assyrian</li><li> Excellent written and oral communication skill</li><li>Holds a current Working with Children Check.</li></ul><p><b>Your duties may include, but not be limited to</b>:</p><ul><li> Provide assessment, counselling, and consultancy to individual students and/or their parents. Provide appropriate feedback and follow-up to students’ parents, Teachers, pastoral and support staff;</li><li>Assist School staff to identify and address students’ specific needs; social, emotional, learning and/or behavioural;</li><li>Facilitate group seminars and programs for students and parents on issues concerned with emotional and social health;</li><li>Conduct or facilitate educational psychological assessment programs for individuals or groups as required;</li><li>Guide families in referrals to external professionals when required. Follow up such referrals to assist parents and students to provide feedback to relevant staff; </li><li>Maintain confidential case files for all students obtaining counselling;</li><li>Provide advice on child protection issues in consultation with the AIS Child Wellbeing Unit; </li><li> Complete necessary reporting in relation to child protection matters, e.g., MRG’s;</li><li>Assist with applications for integration, literacy and other relevant grants from Government sources;</li><li>Adhere to the school referral processes and procedures;</li><li>Report to the principal.</li></ul><p>Interested applicants, as part of their written application, must include the following, and should be forwarded to Janet Jammo (HR Manager) <a href="mailto:janetm&#64;shaps.nsw.edu.au" rel="nofollow">janetm&#64;shaps.nsw.edu.au</a></p><p>    1.
