You are invited to apply for the position of EDUCATION DIRECTOR AND MENTOR (EDM) with TOGETHER FOR HUMANITY (TFH)

Together For Humanity began in December 2001 in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks in New York and an increase in anti-Muslim prejudice in Australia. Jewish, Muslim and Christian, Aboriginal and non-religious educators engaged children in activities that affirmed our common humanity. As we reflected on our work we added programs to engage youth who have been subjected to prejudice to support them in gaining a sense of belonging. We also added a focus on supporting teachers through teachers’ professional learning, online student resources and ‘good practice’ partnership grants. Our aim is to collaborate with teachers to foster school students’ interfaith and intercultural understanding (ICU). An added benefit of the work in school is that the collaboration brings communities together.

Our core principles are:

• Every human being is inherently valuable

• Bigotry is wrong and should be countered

• Belonging securely in one’s place is vital and should be fostered

• Ethnic and religious differences could make Australia stronger

• Teachers can make a difference in uniting our multicultural society

The new EDM Position reports to the National Director.
