<p>Sydney Catholic Schools is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of the systemic schools which educate around 71,000 students in 152 parish primary and regional secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney.</p><ul><li><b>St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Riverwood | K-6 | 458 Students</b></li><li><b>Commencement Date: January 2020</b></li><li><b>Closing Date: 29 August 2019 </b></li></ul><p>St Joseph&#39;s Primary Riverwood is a Catholic systemic school within the Archdiocese of Sydney. The school was founded in 1949 by the Sisters of St Joseph in the area then known as Herne Bay. In the early 1950s it relocated to the present site at Thurlow Street, Riverwood. We respectfully acknowledge that the school has been established on land first inhabited by the Bediagal people. Children attending Saint Joseph’s come from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and the uniqueness and dignity of each member of the community is valued. The school promotes an approach to life that is Christ-centred. In this, the school aims to develop in itself and in the children the Gospel values of respect, acceptance, co-operation, responsibility, truth, justice, reconciliation, peace and joy. St Joseph&#39;s plays an important role in the community with staff, students, parents and the parish working in partnership to nurture all aspects of the children&#39;s lives within a Catholic community. The school curriculum is concerned with effective teaching and learning. </p><p>The school promotes learning as an ongoing process and recognise that children learn at different rates and in different ways. Therefore, the school attempts to provide learning experiences that meet the needs of students. The school addresses the diverse needs of students through curriculum differentiation and providing opportunities for independent and co-operative learning. Programs to support students include targeted Literacy and Numeracy Programs, the Reading Recovery Program, English as a Second Language Program and Special Needs Program. Classrooms are well resourced and include interactive  television screens in every classroom. Technology is effectively integrated within programs. One of the unique features of the school is the level of care within the school that is evident in the respectful relationships between staff, students and parents and the positive learning environment.</p><p>As a member of the school leadership team, the Religious Education Coordinator shares responsibility for the development of the Catholic life of the school, leadership of its vision, mission and strategic priorities and contribution to the management of the school. The Religious Education Coordinator has delegated responsibility for the coordination and supervision of teaching and learning in Religious Education with a well-developed capacity to take forward the evangelising mission of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney.</p><p>To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate proven experience in:</p><ul><li>Creating a faith community that brings the Gospel and teachings of the Catholic Church to all the students, families and staff</li><li>Creating a contemporary, student-centred learning culture</li><li>Initiating and leading change and improvement to enhance learning for all students, especially in Religious Education</li><li>Strategic outlook and understands the school within the broader educational, ecclesial and communal context</li><li>Developing collaborative partnerships to support student and staff faith journey, learning and well-being, especially in the context of evangelization.</li></ul><p>You will also possess the following qualifications:</p><ul><li>Category E Accreditation in accordance with To Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools Archdiocese of Sydney Accreditation OR ability to demonstrate the standard descriptors at Lead Teacher Level in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.</li><li>Tertiary qualifications (Essential): For a substantive appointment (Level 1 REC) Graduate Diploma or Masters in Religious Education/Theology (or equivalent as approved by the Director of Religious Education and Evangelisation.
