Assume responsibility for providing the best possible residential care for our girl boarders. We welcome applications from both teaching and non-teaching professionals. Full-time. Permanent appointment. This position is residential which includes provision of on-site housing. Commencing January 2020.

<p>The Head of Girls’ Boarding is a residential, senior pastoral and administrative position within Westminster School. Reporting to the Director of Boarding/Head of Boys’ Boarding, this position is responsible for the efficient running and management of the Girls’ Boarding program. In particular, the Head of Girls’ Boarding is responsible for the pastoral and boarding progress of the students under their care. </p><p><b> Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to: </b></p><ul><li>Working closely with Director of Boarding/Head of Boys’ Boarding to achieve the best outcomes for boarding students. </li><li>Take oversight of, and responsibility for, general wellbeing, behaviour, discipline, and morale of girl boarders. </li><li>Take responsibility for the day to day facility management and general state and appearance of the Girls’ Boarding House </li><li>Work collaboratively with the Director of Boarding/Head of Boys’ Boarding to ensure consistency and cohesion of policies, procedures and practices between Girls’ and Boys’ Boarding </li><li>Arrange staff duty rosters in accordance with boarding policy, and sharing in duty as appropriate. </li><li>Lead and manage girls’ boarding house staff </li><li>Foster strong relationships with Boarder parents and communities </li><li>Communicate regularly with individual parents regarding the needs of their children and respond promptly to parental communications </li><li>Ensure boarding house compliance with regulatory requirements (eg WHS) </li><li>Undertake a teaching load of up to 0.4 FTE within the Senior School (if appointed as a teacher) </li></ul><p><b> Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience: </b></p><ul><li>Tertiary qualifications in Teaching, Community Services, Youth Work, (or similar) </li><li>Previous demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role </li><li>Experience at a senior level within a boarding environment advantageous </li><li>Proven ability to manage staff, ie rostering, recruiting, performance development and management </li><li>Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills </li><li>Demonstrated experience in managing a budget </li><li>High level of administration skills </li><li>Sound understanding of Work, Health and Safety requirements as they pertain to a boarding environment </li><li>Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid) </li><li>Knowledge of legislative requirements regarding medical care of students is desirable </li><li>Exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes (for teachers) </li></ul><p><b> Key Selection Criteria: Personal Qualities: </b></p><ul><li>Demonstrated ability to deliver effective pastoral care to students/boarders in years 7-12, especially girls. </li><li>Well-developed ability to communicate and liaise effectively with students, parents, school staff and other community and agency members </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills </li><li>Demonstrated ability to build positive and effective working relationships </li><li>Is nurturing, warm and friendly, is approachable and personable </li><li>Displays patience, compassion and flexibility </li><li>Enthusiastic, resilient and optimistic educator </li><li>Innovator and initiator, committed to lifelong learning </li><li>A team builder who inspires others to learn and grow </li><li>A team player demonstrating a ‘whole School’ and ‘whole child’ perspective </li></ul><p> For further information about this role please contact humanresources&#64;westminster.sa.edu.au </p><p> To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter to Mr Simon Shepherd, Principal  </p><p> Applications close Monday 28 October </p><p> Applications will only be accepted when submitted through Seek. </p><p><b><i>Westminster, where you can achieve more than you thought possible. </i></b></p><p><br /></p>
