<p><strong>Secondary Learning Support Officer</strong></p> <p>Full time position to commence January 2020 (with stand down in holiday periods)</p> <p> </p> <p>Georges River Grammar is seeking to employ a full time Secondary Learning Support Officer. You will be working with a small team comprising the Head of Learning Support, a Learning Support Teacher and Learning Support Officers, to meet student outcomes for learning support, literacy and numeracy. To be considered for the position applicants should possess the following:</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Specialist Skills and Experience</strong></p> <ul><li>Deep and broad knowledge of current best practice in Learning Support including current issues in inclusive education and the legislative requirements associated with Students with Disabilities. </li><li>Experience delivering evidence based learning intervention programs for students with a specific range of learning support needs including cognitive, sensory, physical and social/emotional disabilities.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills</li><li>Ability to apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment</li><li>Ability to work effectively as a member of a team</li><li>Experience working with class teachers to plan for and support students with additional learning needs</li><li>An understanding of the need to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community in order to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes.</li><li>Certificate IV or higher in Educational Support or working towards completion of these</li></ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Key Duties and responsibilities</strong></p> <ul><li>Maintaining clear lines of communication with students, staff and parents</li><li>Input into the planning and delivering of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)</li><li>Collaborating with classroom teachers to ensure the inclusion of all students in all learning experiences</li><li>Maintaining up to date documentation relating to students, including daily support data and evidence logs</li><li>Developing and delivering effective intervention programs</li><li>Working with external agencies (e.g. NESA, AIS NSW, NDIS, OT, Speech Therapists) to provide coordinated services</li><li>Assisting with NESA applications for Disability Provisions for the HSC examinations</li><li>Assisting with data collection and maintenance for legislative compliance (NCCD and DSE 2005)</li><li>Any other duties as prescribed by the Principal</li></ul> <p>This position requires the successful applicant to have a Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012, prior to employment at the School.</p> <p> </p> <p>Applications, in writing, are to be addressed to:</p> <p>The Principal</p> <p>Mrs Raquel Charet</p> <p>Georges River Grammar</p> <p>53 Georges Crescent</p> <p>Georges Hall NSW 2198</p> <p> </p> <p>Applications should be emailed to employment&#64;grg.nsw.edu.au by the close of business on Monday 11 November, 2019.</p>
