Support classroom teachers to establish good learning environments and tailor learning experiences for students with specific special learning needs. Permanent part-time. Monday to Friday from 9am to 2pm, school term times only.

<p><b>About the role </b></p><p>We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to provide assistance at school and during activities for individual children with specific special learning needs. You will support classroom teachers to establish an effective learning environment and to provide adjustments to learning materials to support the individual student access and participate in education on the same basis as other students. Active supervision and one-to-one support for the student is required. You may need to assist the student with personal needs where necessary. </p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience </b><br /></p><ul><li>Certificate III in Education Support (as minimum or equivalent) </li><li>Demonstrated experience in working with individual students with special needs </li><li>An understanding of special needs, and in particular Autism Spectrum Disorder, would be advantageous </li><li>Creative and demonstrates initiative </li><li>Excellent ICT and administrative skills </li><li>Ability to attend excursions, sports days and other school-based activities </li><li>Current certifications in Provide First Aid (or ability to acquire) </li><li>Awareness of the Privacy Act </li><li>Experience working in a primary school and classroom environment would be an advantage. </li></ul><p><b>Key Selection Criteria: Personal Qualities </b><br /></p><ul><li>Demonstrated capacity to provide support and/or care to students with special needs </li><li>Warm, caring and nurturing disposition </li><li>A positive, enthusiastic team member with superior organisational skills, the ability to set goals and prioritise work, and the capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks. </li><li>Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a diverse range of students and parents </li><li>Ability to ensure confidentiality.   </li></ul><p>For further information about this role please contact humanresources&#64;westminster.sa.edu.au </p><p>To apply, please submit your resume and a cover letter to Mrs Tanya Madex, Preparatory School Stretch Coordinator. <br /></p><p>Applications will only be accepted when submitted through Seek. <br /></p><p>Applications close 3 November 2020. <br /></p><p><i><b>Westminster, where you can achieve more than you thought possible. </b></i><br /></p><p><br /></p>
