We support 44 Catholic primary and secondary schools across Sydney's North, Northern Beaches and Central Coast and educate over 16,500 students.<br> <br> <strong>About the role</strong><br> The Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Broken Bay are extending their Primary School Counselling service and are seeking an additional full time school counsellor to join the team. This role provides counselling support and mental health assessment for primary aged students on Sydney's North Shore, Northern Beaches, and Central Coast. This full-time, permanent role is focussed on providing support and mental health assessments for primary aged students.<br> <br> <strong>About you</strong><br> To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Psychologist or Social Worker, registered with an appropriate professional association (i.e. APS or AASW).<br> <br> <em>Essential Criteria</em></p> <ul> <li>Understand and commit to the ethos of Catholic education</li> <li>Qualified Psychologist or Social Worker eligible for registered membership with an appropriate professional association (i.e., APS or AASW)</li> <li>A strong understanding of current research and practice in the field of children and adolescent mental health, wellbeing and education</li> <li>Experience in counselling children and young people using evidence based interventions</li> <li>Experience in the administration of cognitive, emotional and behavioural assessments and mental health screeners.</li> <li>Knowledge of current child protection legislation</li> <li>An ability to work independently and collaboratively within and across teams to achieve educational improvement and positive wellbeing</li> <li>Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills</li> </ul> <p><em>Desirable Criteria</em></p> <ul> <li>Experience working within a school environment.</li> <li>Knowledge of the NSW Education Act (1990).</li> <li>Experience in facilitating therapeutic groups or delivering professional learning.</li> <li>Experience facilitating proactive and preventative programs that develop social and emotional skills and strengthens the overall wellbeing of students.</li> </ul> <p><strong>The rewards</strong><br> In return, we offer a salary of up to $107,779 plus superannuation, salary packaging and a supportive and collaborative team environment where you can progress your career. Teacher conditions apply which is inclusive of school holidays. Occasionally, duties will require a variation of hours.
