Teachers within the Diocese are responsible to the Principal and share in the learning and teaching of subject matters to students of the school community.

<div class="video"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kEiwmRwZ4Ko" style="max-width:560px; width:100%; height: 315px;" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p dir="ltr">St Michael’s Primary School was established in 1971.&nbsp; It is a large Catholic school in the Diocese of Parramatta providing an education for children from Kindergarten to Year 6 in a climate that is humanly and spiritually rich.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">We provide student-centered learning; students being challenged academically and spiritually through inquiry, critical thinking and problem solving skills alongside the ‘soft skills’ of teamwork cooperation and communication.</p> <p dir="ltr">In the Teacher Librarian (LTST) role you will lead staff and students to access information relating to the curriculum, and foster a love of reading and learning. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to work in partnership with teachers to develop students reading, information skills and digital literacy skills.</p> <p dir="ltr">Reporting to the Principal, this role will teach library lessons Kindergarten to Year 6, and will work collaboratively with leadership and all staff to align library, information services and digital literacy with learning across the curriculum. Responsibilities of this role span across Teaching and Learning, Management, Leadership and Collaboration, Community Engagement and Promotion of Library Services.</p> <p dir="ltr">St Michael’s is seeking to employ a suitably qualified, passionate and experienced person with&nbsp; knowledge of literature across a wide range of genres and a thorough understanding of relevant areas of the K-12 curriculum, particularly as it pertains to English, literacy, ICT and Information Services. They will be a collaborative and inspired leader who is an excellent communicator and can build relationships across our school community including students, staff and parents.</p> <p dir="ltr">This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1 2022.</p> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Selection Criteria:</strong></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Extensive knowledge and experience in managing and teaching in a school library</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Leadership qualities (experience in leadership is desirable)&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Experience developing intentional partnerships, collaborating with educators and creating a synergy&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Experience guiding learners to master the process of learning&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Experience developing school library spaces that are flexible, agile, welcoming and inclusive that facilitate current teaching and learning pedagogy</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Experience digitally enabling students to communicate and collaborate using a variety of digital resources and media.&nbsp;</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Ability to support the needs of a diverse range of learners</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Possess sound knowledge of the NSW Syllabus</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills with experience across collaboration/team work and leadership</p> </li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Qualifications and accreditations:</strong></p> <ul> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Formal qualifications in Masters of Education Teacher Librarianship or equivalent.</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)</p> </li> <li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc"> <p dir="ltr">Tertiary Qualification</p> </li> </ul> <p dir="ltr"><strong>Interested?</strong></p> <p dir="ltr">This position involves working with children.
