While much of the explicit teaching of literacy occurs in the discipline of English, literacy skills are enhanced through other disciplines when students engage in a range of learning activities with significant literacy demands. The Literacy Development Coordinator will ensure that all discipline areas encompass the ability to use and modify language for different purposes in a range of contexts.</p><p>The Literacy Development Coordinator  plays a key role in leading, shaping and managing the College’s strategic direction by developing practices in the following areas:</p><ul><li>Learning and Teaching</li><li>Development of self and others</li><li>Leading improvement, innovation and change</li><li>Administration and operational management</li><li>Engaging and working with the community</li><li>Please refer to the attached position description and College website for more information regarding this opportunity.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>ABOUT YOU</b></p><p>Passionate about literacy, you will posses a strong drive to create positive opportunities for students. Partnering with teaching staff and other positions of leadership, you will develop and implement a College wide approach to improving literacy in all disciplines and subject areas.<br /></p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria</b></p><p><b><u>Essential:</u></b></p><ul><li>Tertiary qualifications in Education with evidence of continuous formal learning in a relevant field.</li><li>Experience leading the broad advancement of literacy in a secondary school setting.</li><li>Accreditation to Teach RE or Lead in a Catholic School, working towards attainment or preparedness to commence working towards attainment.</li><li>Ability to create and deliver targeted action plans to achieve outcomes.</li><li>Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Ability to lead others.</li><li>Forward thinking and innovative.</li><li>Understanding of and commitment to positive education practices.</li></ul><p><b><u>Desirable:</u></b></p><ul><li>Experience managing projects and resources.</li><li>Experience in a faith-based setting, and capacity to positively advance the College’s mission and Mercy values.</li></ul><p>This position requires VIT registration and evidence of full vaccination (boosted) against Covid-19.
