Holy Cross Primary School is seeking a permanent part time (0.5 FTE) Learning Support Teacher to join the team in 2022. Holy Cross Primary School, Glendale offers students the highest quality education within the context of a caring Catholic community. Catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, Holy Cross enrolments draw from the areas of Glendale, Cameron Park, Speers Point, Edgeworth, West Wallsend, Argenton, Cardiff, Macquarie Hills, Toronto, Fletcher and Barnsley. The school community strives to cater for the goals and aspirations of all students and welcomes the input of its students, parents and friends, and values the connections shared with the school’s parish and broader community. The Learning Support Teacher (LST) will assist staff and families in meeting the needs of children with additional needs through programs, advice, documentation and assistance with professional learning needs. The Learning Support Teacher is responsible to the Principal. <p> • A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education. <br>• Working collaboratively with staff and families to source strategies, resources and personnel to ensure children with additional needs are able to access the curriculum, academically, socially &amp; physically. <br>• Liaising with the schools , pre-schools and day-care staff to ensure appropriate transition practices are maintained. <br>• Collaboratively developing individual Education Programs (IEPs) with staff, families and external providers as appropriate. <br>• Facilitating referral and assessment procedures <br>• Liaising with external agencies and therapists alongside a consultation with staff and families. <br>• Assisting and supporting learning support assistants <br>• Contributing to the preparation of documentation required under legislation in line with privacy and confidentiality obligations, for example, student files; <br>• Preparing and completing appropriate documentation as required under legislation <br>• Preparation of funding submissions; <br>• Managing the school's special education resources; <br>• Contributing to the provision of staff professional learning for staff The Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, preventing those in our care from suffering abuse or neglect. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, retain a valid NSW Working with Children Check and ensure compliance with our safeguarding policies, the Diocesan Safeguarding Commitment Statement and the Codes of Conduct. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> The applicant must: <br>• have the appropriate experience and/or qualifications in Special Education. <br>• be appropriately qualified as four year trained teacher <br>• have had teaching experience in a Primary School. <br>• record current NESA and Working with Children Check on application as well as Date of Birth <br>• evidence of completion of Anaphylaxis training certificate must be supplied. <br>• applicants will need to comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead (formerly FEA ) and will need to work towards Accreditation at Category B – Accreditation to teach.
