About the Role We are currently seeking an Assistant Principal to join our comprehensive and vibrant team at Sts Peter & Paul Primary School, Garran.  Please note that this position is for an initial two-year period with an opportunity for further extensions. Two further extensions (each of four years) may be offered based on performance outcomes. The position will be underpinned by a permanent (ongoing) teaching position within Catholic Education.  Essential Criteria Vision and Values <ul> <li>Demonstrates a deep understanding of the role of the Catholic school within the mission of the Church and the role of school leadership within that context.</li> <li>Demonstrates an ability to articulate the role that faith plays in one’s life and how it informs one’s sense of personal mission and vocation.</li> <li>Demonstrates a deep understanding of leadership that is centred around the concept of building capacity in others.</li> </ul> Knowledge and Understanding <ul> <li>Demonstrates an excellent understanding of STEM and is able to develop and teach STEM units of work.</li> <li>Demonstrates an ability to articulate the concepts and merits of the science of learning, and an understanding of its pedagogical implementation.</li> <li>Demonstrates a capacity to think through some of the complexities around effective assessment and the relationship between good assessment and teaching practice.</li> <li>Demonstrates a superior ability to use data effectively, especially to lead professional learning in using assessment to inform teaching and learning.</li> <li>Demonstrates both an excellent understanding of the diverse learning needs of students in contemporary education and the models of effective practices of inclusion.</li> <li>Demonstrates an awareness of national and system education initiatives and the implications for Catholic schools.</li> </ul> Personal Qualities, Social and Interpersonal Skills <ul> <li>Demonstrates a superior capacity to listen deeply to others and collaboratively work through issues, for the wellbeing of all parties.</li> <li>Demonstrates a capacity to form strong partnerships with a range of agencies and people, for the benefit of all students.</li> </ul> Please refer to the role description for an in-depth detail regarding criteria and skill set required.
