Brigidine College is seeking to appoint an engaging and passionate educator to join our dynamic, vibrant and highly successful English team as the Head of Department. This is a full time permanent 2 point coordinator position commencing 28 January 2022.

<p>Brigidine College seeks applicants who are skilled in the teaching of all secondary English courses and are highly knowledgeable of the syllabuses of these courses. The preferred applicant will have a strong grasp of the role that the teaching of English plays in a Catholic school. They must be excellent communicators, innovative, able to work well with girls, parents and other teachers and demonstrate a willingness to be active and committed to the full life of the College. </p><p>Applicants will need to show their ability to be a leader of the English faculty and how their work with staff and students is connected to the broader strategic goals of the school.</p><p><b>Key Selection Criteria:</b></p><ul><li>Commitment to Catholic Education, a clear understanding of the vision and mission of Catholic Schools and a willingness to support the faith formation of students</li><li>Commitment to academic excellence </li><li>A well-informed understanding of contemporary learning and teaching practices, research and pedagogy </li><li>Evidence of leadership of educational innovation and development of curriculum and assessment </li><li>Analysis of key results providing a professional interpretation of all data, both internal and external, to drive learning forward for all students </li><li>An understanding of the importance of, and future initiatives for, building and leading effective teams within the department/stages</li><li>Capability of empowering students to be independent and creative learners</li><li>Ability to facilitate dynamic and collaborative learning experiences </li><li>Demonstrated good team leadership skills: including collaboration; approachability; listening skills; conflict resolution; exercising sound judgement; and showing initiative </li><li>Strong organisational and time management skills with an ability to prioritise tasks, meet prescribed deadlines and concurrently manage a number of competing tasks </li><li>Excellent communication skills (written and oral)</li><li>The ability to teach across all English courses including Extension is an advantage.</li></ul><p>This position requires the successful applicant to obtain and maintain a valid Working with Children Clearance.</p><p><u>To assist your understanding of this leadership position, please refer to the Duty Statement attached.</u></p><p><b>Applications must include:</b></p><ul><li>Cover application letter of one (1) page addressed to the Principal, Mrs Sharyn Quirk</li><li>Written response addressing the <u>Key Selection Criteria</u> in a maximum of five (5) pages</li><li>A statement of your educational philosophy</li><li>A current curriculum vitae/resume outlining teaching, leadership and other experience relevant to the position</li><li>Contact details for three (3) referees</li><li>NESA registration number</li><li>Employee ID registration number with Sydney Catholic Schools or a commitment to obtaining one prior to interview</li></ul><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS</b>: Thursday 7 October 2021</p><p>Please email your application to:</p><p>Mrs Sharyn Quirk (Principal)</p><p>Email: principal&#64;bcrandwick.catholic.edu.au</p>
