<p>The College Psychologist supports the Deputy Principal, Director of RE and Mission, Director of Primary and the Director of Pastoral Care in providing quality Maronite Catholic education for students in the care of the College. The College Psychologist carries specific responsibility for the provision of quality group and individual counselling and associated support services for students, parents and teachers. </p><p>In carrying out his/her role, the counsellor would fulfil the following broad College expectations: </p><p>• Encouraging and supporting the growth of the Maronite Catholic culture of the College; </p><p>• Collaborating in sustaining the traditions of the Lebanese Maronite Order within the College community; </p><p>• Promoting positive interpersonal relationships within the College, which reflect Gospel values; </p><p>• Respecting the need for discretion and/or confidentiality in dealing with information which may be sensitive to students, colleagues or families. </p><p>• Providing high quality individual and/or group counselling services to students, as required; </p><p>• Contributing to the planning and provision of workshops and programs for staff, parents and students to support their understanding of essential and/or current issues, e.g. substance abuse, child protection, adolescent management, suicide prevention, etc.; </p><p>• Using appropriate psychological assessment instruments and reports to inform the development of individual plans for each student; </p><p>• Supporting staff in the process of identifying and responding to students “at risk”; </p><p>• Working with parents and families in a culturally sensitive and meaningful manner. </p><p>• Maintaining effective communication with referring teachers and other relevant College leaders and staff in order to provide appropriate and regular feedback (within the bounds of the agreed position on confidentiality); </p><p>• Liaising with external support agencies providing specialist support for students; </p><p>• The appointee to this position is required to maintain membership of a relevant professional association (eg APHRA, APS or AASW). </p><p>This is a temporary Full Time position to cover a 1 year maternity leave. </p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
