MacKillop College is seeking to employ an experienced Careers Counsellor who can fill either a part-time or full-time position in the 2022 school year.

<p>Applications are invited from qualified and innovative personnel for the following position commencing at the beginning of the 2022 School Year:<br /></p><p><b>Careers Counsellor </b></p><p><i>This position may be part-time or full-time </i></p><p><br /></p><p>The Careers Counsellor is responsible for developing the Careers Counselling program in line with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) and Department of Education and Training (DET) guidelines and in keeping with the ethos of the College. In this capacity they must have: </p><p>• Specific information about the world of work and opportunities for the future </p><p>• Understanding of the key role of transferable skills, attitudes, values, etc. in relation to employer needs and in relation to individual’s understanding themselves and their marketability better </p><p>• Technical/knowledge skills that pertain to specific work areas/occupations </p><p>• The ability to work with staff to professionally develop their skills in these areas </p><p>The role of this person is to: </p><p>• Ensure that they are well informed about current post-secondary course requirements through active engagement in the Work/Careers Education network </p><p>• Assist parents and students to make sound educational decisions </p><p>• Keep staff informed of major developments relating to course options in tertiary education, vocational education and training and changing trends in youth employment </p><p>• Promote Careers Education as a valuable element of the school curriculum </p><p>• Monitor developments in youth employment policy and ensure that school leaders are aware of the potential implications of any such changes </p><p>• Make suggestions for the improved effectiveness of College policies and procedures relating to Careers Education </p><p>• Develop specific initiatives for students to develop awareness about course options and career choices </p><p>• Establish appropriate school/industry links </p><p>• Liaise with the VCE and VCAL Leaders to ensure that students enrolment details are appropriate </p><p>• Assist in the development of activities/courses that enable students to help them understand their interests and aptitudes and how to maximize their secondary education to achieve the best possible post-school outcomes </p><p>• Develop systems by which students can become aware of the many educational and training options available </p><p>• Provide opportunities for students to examine and explore the world of work, using a variety of tools </p><p>• Oversee the information on subject and VTAC selection </p><p>• Inform the school community of Open Days in TAFEs and Universities </p><p>• Conduct information evenings for parents on relevant work and career areas </p><p>• Counsel students as to developments in the workforce, industry areas and tertiary opportunities and their impact on their choices </p><p>• Raise the level of consciousness regarding the work of work </p><p>• Inform all relevant parties about VTAC and other study options </p><p>• Help students network, via local Jobs Pathways Program, and other services, to local employment opportunities </p><p>• Develop students’ skills in application completion and interview skills </p><p>• Other duties as directed by the Principal </p><p>The successful applicants will: </p><p>• have a minimum qualification of a relevant diploma level or equivalent in Careers Counselling </p><p>• have a current Working With Children Check and National Police Record Check </p><p>• be supportive of the philosophy of Catholic education </p><p>• be able to provide care and support for students whilst supporting and respecting the ethos of the school and its environment. </p><p>This position will be a Category A School Services Officer and remunerated as per the Victorian Catholic Education Multi Enterprise Agreement 2013. </p><p><b><br /></b></p><p><b>Your application must contain: </b></p><p>• The prescribed Application for Employment Form </p><p>• Curriculum Vitae </p><p>The prescribed Application for Employment Form can be accessed via our webpage at <a href="http://mackillopwerribee.com.au/information/employment/" rel="nofollow">http://mackillopwerribee.com.au/information/employment/</a></p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p>Applications must be forwarded no later than <b>10 am on Wednesday 20 October 2021</b> to: </p><p>The Principal<br />MacKillop College<br />PO Box 522, WERRIBEE VIC, 3030<br />Tel: (03) 8734 5200 </p><p>Email: <a href="mailto:employment&#64;mackillop.vic.edu.au" rel="nofollow">employment&#64;mackillop.vic.edu.au</a></p><p> </p><p><i>The MacKillop College community promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. </i></p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
