St James’ Primary School is seeking a permanent Groundsperson for 12 hours per week. St James' Primary School, Muswellbrook is a Catholic school where learning comes first. Catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, the school endeavours to provide a holistic and comprehensive education for all students by nurturing the academic, physical, interpersonal and spiritual dimensions of school life. St James’ features an inviting and nurturing educational environment equipped with modern facilities and modern technology. The school grounds feature open plan collaborative classrooms, flexible working spaces, a computer lab, multi-purpose hall, outdoor covered learning area, large playground and playing fields and a fully equipped learning centre with a well-resourced library. These spaces provide a stimulating and adaptable learning environment for all students. <p> We are seeking a motivated worker to support the school with (including but not limited to) building and grounds maintenance, cleaning, opening/closing the school premises, etc. The Groundsperson under the direction of the Principal contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the college by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the schools’ grounds. The Groundsperson will be required to assess repairs quickly to enable maximum safety at all times. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • Ability to have an understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school <br>• Capacity to coordinate and prioritise maintenance works with the ability to meet deadlines and set priorities <br>• Ability to manage garden maintenance including attending to the gardens, weeding, watering, planting, fertilising, mulching, mowing <br>• Ability to liaise with various internal and external personnel (including the organisation of contractors) in order to respond to damage and repair requests <br>• Ability to ensure the school is always clean and presentable, involving cleaning of gutters, car park areas, downpipes, paths and other areas as determined by the College <br>• Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety requirements <br>• Good communication and interpersonal skills <br>• Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment; <br>• Willingness to Comply or Compliance with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy. Category A – Accreditation to Work.
