Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) continues to be a thriving and growing contemporary educational community with over 150 schools, more than 71,000 current students, 10,000 staff and a large alumni community.</p><p><b>Commencement Date:</b> Term 1, 28 January 2022 </p><p><b>Closing Date:</b> Friday, 29 October 2021 </p><p><b>Capacity:</b> Full time, Permanent </p><p><b>ABOUT THE ROLE </b></p><p>The Education Officer: Church Engagement focuses on improving the understanding and involvement of Sydney Catholic Students (SCS) students, staff and families in the Catholic Church through student, staff and family evangelisation, formation, and education. The position requires an outstanding educator with a well-developed capacity to evangelise and engage students and communities in the mission of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney. You will work with the Manager: Network Catholic Identity to form a cohesive yet individual engagement plan across each network to improve the percentage and number of practising Catholic students in SCS schools who are actively engaged in faith. </p><p><b>MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES </b></p><p>The successful candidate for this position will be a highly effective and Catholic leader who: </p><ul><li>is a committed Catholic who understands the evangelising mission of Catholic schools </li><li>is a leader of Catholic identity and mission at a school and / or system level </li><li>is committed to working closely with the priests and the parish community </li><li>can lead the preparation of liturgies and celebrations </li><li>is able to lead Religious Education in all aspects of curriculum development and implementation </li><li>is a strong, contemporary leader of learning, with the capacity to lead change and demonstrate contemporary pedagogy that focuses on improving student learning </li><li>is a person who can effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders and build relationships </li><li>can analyse and use data to inform learning and engage in future planning </li><li>has an understanding of, and ability to differentiate, curriculum </li><li>has the ability to work collaboratively across all stages </li><li>is adaptable in working within a ‘shared-leadership’ model. </li></ul><p><b>ESSENTIAL CRITERIA </b></p><p>The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications: </p><ul><li>University Degree in Education or Teaching </li><li>postgraduate qualification in Religious Education, Theology, Education or another discipline </li><li>demonstrated five years minimum teaching experience in a school </li><li>experienced in leading staff in professional learning </li><li>demonstrated success in improving student outcomes </li><li>demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives </li><li>experienced in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives </li><li>demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts. </li></ul><p>You will have attained or be pursuing the following qualifications: </p><ul><li>a qualified and Accredited teacher with NESA </li><li>ability to operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers </li><li>accreditation to ‘Teach Religious Education’ in the Archdiocese of Sydney (Category D), in accordance with the “Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools” policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney </li><li>accreditation or Provisional Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School (Category E), in accordance with the “Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in systemic Catholic schools” policy within the Archdiocese of Sydney. </li></ul><p><b>APPLICATION PROCESS </b></p><p>Submit your application via the ‘Apply’ button and follow the steps to complete. </p><p>To complete the application process you will need to attach: </p><ul><li>cover letter </li><li>resume </li><li>academic transcripts </li><li><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R2F0CvYOIQnUoRc0XdN9LLW4Se3MY-Cd/view" rel="nofollow">Parish Priest reference</a>. </li></ul><p>For any enquiries, please contact the Mission and Identity team by emailing mi.appointments&#64;syd.catholic.edu.au. </p><p><b>Working With Children Check (WWCC) </b></p><p>This role is classified as child-related work and therefore requires a WWCC clearance prior to commencement of employment. </p><p><b>OUR MISSION </b></p><p><i>To know and love Christ through learning. </i></p><p><b>OUR VISION </b></p><p><i>Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning. </i></p><p><b>OUR VALUES </b></p><p><i>Truth, empathy, excellence, curiosity and collaboration. </i></p><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
