St Dominic’s Centre is seeking a permanent full time Assistant Principal to join the school community commencing in Term 1, 2022, or earlier by negotiation. St. Dominic’s Centre was established as a special school by the Dominican Sisters in 1857. St Dominic’s provides education and therapeutic services for children (K-10) with autism and / or intellectual disability. St Dominic’s provides excellence in education that empowers students with the values, knowledge, attitudes, and skills to flourish and participate fully in society. <p> The Assistant Principal is a key member of the leadership team of a Catholic school. The Assistant Principal exercises a unique professional relationship of support and loyalty to the leadership of the principal and may deputise in the absence of the Principal. The Assistant Principal contributes to the collaborative decision-making processes and assists the Principal in the planning, implementation and evaluation of school goals and in the transformation of the school culture into a results-oriented professional learning community. The Assistant Principal at St Dominic’s will demonstrate excellence in leading the development and delivery of quality personalised learning, building the capacity and managing the performance of individuals and teams; and setting high standards for students and staff performance. The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has an abiding commitment to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults - particularly those who participate in the life of the Diocese. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check and, where legislated, hold a Working with Children Check. Diocesan workers are expected to personally adopt and enact the Diocese’s Safeguarding Commitment Statement. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • Practising Catholic; <br>• Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and the mission of the Church through Catholic schools. <br>• The applicant has completed or will complete (within four years of appointment) a postgraduate qualification in Religious Education or Theological Studies. <br>• Postgraduate qualifications in Special Education and/or extensive teaching experience in a specialised setting for students with autism, intellectual disability, emotional and behavioural disorders, (K-10). <br>• Proven ability to lead the development and delivery of quality personalised plans and rich differentiated learning programs for students with complex needs. <br>• Demonstrated capacity to lead quality professional development across the school's learning community and deliver quality learning outcomes for all students. <br>• Exemplary classroom practitioner with the ability to balance a complex role that leads, supports, inspires, and mentors a multidisciplinary team. <br>• Exemplary educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. <br>• Demonstrated ability to initiate and drive change and ensure a culture of continuous improvement. <br>• A demonstrated capacity to think and act strategically; to exercise sound judgement; and to support the Principal in leading the mission and vision of the school; <br>• Proven strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with all key stakeholders sensitively and actively, and demonstrated capacity to build solid trusting relationships with students, staff and parents. <br>• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes. <br>• Demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislative and legal frameworks including disability discrimination, equity and diversity, work health and safety, and child protection. <br>• Demonstrate an understanding of performance management principles in the support of staff, and the capacity to implement relevant plans and policies to ensure strong governance. <br>• Current NESA Accreditation and Working With Children Check (WWCC); <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training <br>• Willingness to comply, or compliance, with the CSO Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead 2018 and willingness to work towards the Current Accreditation at Category E – Accreditation for Senior Leadership. </p> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <p> • Completion of Asthma training <br>• Completion of First Aid Certificate </p> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <p> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020. </p> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <p> To apply: Please provide your resume and a cover letter addressing the position requirements and criteria directly to the Talent Acquisition Team – Talent@mn.catholic.org.au Applicants should nominate at least three (3) referees, one of whom must be a parish priest and two other persons one of whom must be the person's current principal and/or area supervisor or consultant.
