The School Psychologist identifies, supports and refers further treatment for young people who struggle with mental health and school/family issues. They work in a multidisciplinary team, including supporting teaching staff, in the management of these students and report to the Director of Students. </p><p>Your key tasks &amp; responsibilities will include the following areas that relate to: </p><p>Student Testing Assessment/Funded Students, Counselling, Staff Education, Pastoral Care/Child Safety, Professional Development and Co-Curricular Engagement: </p><ul><li>Provide cognitive and educational testing and assessment when required </li><li>Communication of all assessments to key stakeholders, parents, teachers and relevant professionals </li><li>Prepare written psychological and educational assessment reports </li><li>Developing appropriate interventions and programs or referrals to appropriate agencies </li><li>Collaborate with Department Head regarding students with special needs and provide documentation for external funding where required </li><li>Provide individual or group counselling to students </li><li>Resource and support parents so that they can offer support to their child </li><li>Report critical situations involving students, as and when appropriate to key stakeholders </li><li>Referral of students and families to external agencies and professionals where medium to long-term support and case management as required </li><li>Develop, implement and monitor relevant policies and practices in collaboration with key stakeholders </li><li>Advise and support the Leadership Team in the management of critical incidents in the school community involving student or staff trauma </li><li>In collaboration with the Department Head, conduct Program Support Group (PSG) meetings for students with social-emotional needs </li><li>Build awareness and foster a positive attitude to, the School’s counselling service among students and parents </li><li>Design and deliver training to help staff in the development of pastoral expertise </li><li>Resource and empower staff in their pastoral role in the School and, when required, support staff regarding students for whom they may hold concern </li><li>Ensure familiarity and compliance with the School’s Child Safe Policy, Code of Conduct and Procedures </li><li>Adhere to and implement all working practices and procedures in accordance with the School’s Risk Management and Occupational Health and Safety Policies </li><li>Actively participate and contribute in the school’s Performance Development and Coaching program </li><li>Fulfil co-curricular requirements in accordance with School guidelines, including Parent Education/ Information Evenings </li></ul><p><br /></p><p><b>About You </b></p><p>To be successful in this position, not only is it essential that you have the skills and expertise, you must also have the willingness to immerse yourself within the school community and truly become part of the team. </p><p>In addition, you will have the following qualifications and skill set; </p><ul><li>Post Graduate qualifications in Psychology </li><li>Current, Full Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA </li><li>Member of APS membership (highly desirable) </li><li>Extensive practice and knowledge in Educational or Developmental Psychology within an educational setting </li><li>Proven experience in family therapy </li><li>A demonstrated practice of principles and administration of Psychoeducational Assessments </li><li>Excellent communication skills to a range of audiences </li><li>A collaborative approach with colleagues in managing students concerns </li><li>Proven experience in establishing and fostering relationships with students, staff and parents </li><li>Excellent time management and organisational skills </li><li>Demonstrated desire to apply a growth mindset to professional development </li><li>Commitment to actively participate in the co-curricular and pastoral activities of the school </li></ul><p>A current National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children&#39;s Check (employee) are essential requirements for this role. We also would prefer that you have current First Aid and CPR certificates, however these are not essential. </p><p><br /></p><p>This is a Maternity Leave position, commencing Term 1, 2022 and concluding at the end of Term 3, 2022 (September).
