This is a pivotal role requiring the appointee to be an outstanding academic, a good communicator and collaborator who is keen to contribute as a strategic member of the College’s Executive Team. The role requires insight and vision and the courage to show contemporary leadership in developing an inclusive and engaged learning community.

<p>The Deputy Principal will build an inclusive model of learning-centred leadership with a focus on pedagogical strategic planning to continually improve academic learning. This will require leadership that demonstrates educational vision and innovation to the staff and fosters positive relationships with students and parents.<br /></p><p>This role determines processes and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the day to day running of the College. The role starts 24 January 2022. The McDonald College will negotiate an appropriate employment package with the successful candidate. </p><h4>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</h4><h4><br /></h4><h4>Educational Leadership – Teaching and Learning</h4><ul><li>Foster a culture of continuous improvement and evaluation </li><li>Lead the development and improvement of pedagogy through innovative teaching and learning initiatives </li><li>Enhance the College’s record of academic high achievement </li><li>Manage data collection and use for continuous student improvement </li><li>Oversee, plan and deliver, where appropriate, targeted Professional Development for staff </li><li>Co-ordinate the Head of Learning Enrichment to assure students receive the most appropriate learning opportunities and that staff are supported in teaching practices </li><li>Teach face-to-face as deemed appropriate by the Principal. </li><li>Conduct interviews for new staff as required.</li></ul><h5>Strategic Leadership</h5><ul><li>Lead the academic team in a supportive and collaborative manner </li><li>Lead research-based and sound educational pedagogy that influences the improvement and innovation of teaching and learning, assessment and classroom practice </li><li>Contribute to and participate in whole College decision making and strategic direction </li><li>Oversee Teacher Accreditation working closely with TAA Co-ordinator </li><li>Regularly review, update and make known the whole College Code of Conduct </li><li>Initiate and deliver the Induction program to new staff. </li><li>Co-ordinate Wellbeing and Year Co-ordinator meetings </li><li>Chair the Academic Committee as required for Assessment appeals </li><li>Support student extension through the classroom, where considered appropriate. </li></ul><h5>Administrative Leadership</h5><h5> </h5><ul><li>Support and assist the Principal in all matters of forward planning and strategy </li><li>Oversee daily operations and staff covers </li><li>Chair the Academic Committee as required for Assessment appeals </li><li>Ensure accurate and informative Student Reports are disseminated to parents </li><li>Carry out investigations, as requested by the Principal, in relation to any complaints </li><li>Prepare, contribute to and ensure delivery of key College collateral </li><li>Implement, maintain and review all College policies </li><li>Attend College functions and represent the Executive at various meetings as applicable </li><li>Ensure compliance with academic, wellbeing and legal requirements eg, Child Protection and WHS. </li></ul><h5>Student Academic and Wellbeing Development and Staff Wellbeing</h5><h5> </h5><ul><li>Chair the Year Co-ordinator’s meetings and guide the Student Wellbeing programs </li><li>Display care for staff and students in the Secondary School, modelling the desired relationships and implementing discipline with dignity </li><li>Foster a collaborative and positive organisational culture that supports staff suggestions and improvements to operating standards. </li></ul><h5>Compliance and Assurance</h5><h5> </h5><ul><li>Ensure we are fulfilling legal and NESA public examination and registration and accreditation requirements. </li><li>Manage the Complispace Portal </li><li>Manage all aspects of WHS. </li></ul><h4><br /></h4><h4>SELECTION CRITERIA</h4><p>To secure this position, you will be an outstanding educator with a proven track record of leadership and achievement in teaching and learning.
