St Pius X High School, Adamstown is seeking a permanent full time Learning Support Teacher to join the team in 2022. The Learning Support Teacher will have responsibility for supporting the Learning Support Coordinator in the management of special needs focus programs, inclusive of gifted and talented, assistance to teachers with curriculum differentiation, supervision of support personnel as appropriate; and be able to assist schools in their professional development needs. The Learning Support Teacher is responsible to the Principal. St Pius X High School, Adamstown, is a coeducational Catholic School serving students in Years 7 to 10. The curriculum incorporates both traditional and contemporary courses; students regularly perform well above the state average in NAPLAN tests and continue to be high achievers in the Higher School Certificate <p> • A relevant understanding of the philosophy of Catholic Education. <br>• The Learning Support Teacher works under the direction of the Learning Support Coordinator. <br>• Assisting with the initial identification of students with special educational needs; <br>• Working collaboratively with the principal, learning support coordinator, class teachers, parents and students to develop appropriate assessment strategies, identify resources and implement effective strategies to create learning and social opportunities for students with special education needs; <br>• Liaising with the relevant schools particularly in relation to transition periods; <br>• Collaboratively designing, implementing, modifying and evaluating individual Education Programs (IEPs) with class teachers and other relevant people; <br>• Working collaboratively with and overseeing the work of other learning support personnel; <br>• Contributing to the preparation of documentation required under legislation in line with privacy and confidentiality obligations, for example, student files; <br>• Assisting in the preparation of funding submissions; <br>• Contributing to the provision of staff professional development and parent education programs. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check, retain a valid NSW Working with Children Check and ensure compliance with our safeguarding policies, the Diocesan Safeguarding Commitment Statement and the Code’s of Conduct. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively supporting the Catholic ethos and culture of the school <br>• Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or qualifications in Special Education <br>• Ability to apply appropriate knowledge to plan and prepare contemporary and compliant teaching and learning programs in your nominated areas which meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students and encourage them to work towards attainment of their potential <br>• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilise data to optimise organisational and educational outcomes <br>• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community to establish productive partnerships and achieve educational outcomes <br>• Desire to contribute to the establishment of a staff-wide culture of professional learning, reading and reflective practice <br>• Demonstrate an innovative and agile mindset that supports and enhances a culture of continuous improvement within the school environment <br>• Evidence of excellent organisational and administrative skills The applicant must provide evidence of the following: <br>• Qualifications as a four year trained teacher; <br>• Current NESA Accreditation; <br>• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number; <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training. </p> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <p> • Experience of Case-Management of students on NCCD funding <br>• Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and to prioritise wisely when dealing with several competing high priority situations <br>• Understanding of a range of mental health conditions that arise for students from Years 7 to 10 <br>• Good working knowledge of Compass administration </p> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <p> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020. </p> <h3>Additional Info:</h3> <p> To apply: • Please provide a cover letter (maximum 3 pages) addressing the selection criteria along with your resume. • Applicants should nominate at least two (2) referees including, one of whom must be their current principal. • If you are applying as a Graduate Teacher, please provide contact details for your most recent Supervising Teacher.
