The School was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1921 and continues the Mission of Saint Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods of educating rural children. St Michael's is very much a “family” school, small enough to be familiar with each child’s needs and interests. It strives to establish an environment, which fosters the development of the whole person thus enabling children to witness and understand the richness and joy of a life, lived in accordance with the teachings of Christ.</p> <p>This temporary teaching position could involve teaching any class Year 3 to Year 6, and will include composite classes across stages.</p> <p>Applications are invited from the above position from qualified and innovative educators who demonstrate a sincere commitment to the aims and philosophy of Catholic education and possess appropriate teaching qualifications.</p> <p>Suitable applicants for this position will be able to demonstrate:</p> <ul> <li>A personal commitment to and knowledge of and commitment of the Catholic ethos and mission of the school</li> <li>An understanding of the church’s teaching and the role of the teacher within the church</li> <li>Be able to teach the gospel values and beliefs of the Catholic Tradition &amp; model the same to the students</li> <li>Energy and genuine passion for education, students and student wellbeing</li> <li>Have a sound knowledge and understanding of current classroom practices such as how children learn, classroom management, class programming, assessment, reporting and teaching strategies.</li> <li>Possess a knowledge and understanding of the NSW Primary syllabi from the NSW Education standards Authority (NESA)</li> <li>Experience working within a Professional Learning Community, sharing a common vision, talents, ideas, responsibilities and resources.</li> <li>An understanding of the nature of the 21st century learner including a capacity to effectively use technology to enhance student learning,</li> <li>Be able to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community, in order to encourage self-motivation and to ensure sound academic progress.</li> <li>Strong behaviour management skills, that is consistent with school policy and meets the needs of students</li> <li>Experience teaching multi-stage classes or a willingness to learn.</li> <li>Documentary evidence of Teaching qualifications and the willingness to meet accreditation standards to teach in a Catholic School</li> <li>Demonstrate confidentiality and be aware of the legal obligations responsibilities associated with this position.</li> <li>Complete an application on the appropriate form.</li> </ul> <p>A valid <em>Working with Children Check Number</em> is required for this position and must be provided at the time of application.
