The Science Laboratory Assistant supports the Science staff in the day-to-day teaching and ensures the effectiveness and safety of classes being conducted in the Science Laboratories by performing duties as required. In all cases, the Science Laboratory Assistant maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality amongst staff, students and the wider community.&nbsp;</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt"><strong>Essential Criteria</strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">An understanding of and commitment to the mission of Catholic schools and a willingness to be involved in the corporate and spiritual life of the school;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">Qualifications and experience working in a Science laboratory (preferably a secondary school science laboratory but not essential) including an understanding of the relevant safety and legislative requirements</span><span style="font-size: 10pt">;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">Knowledge of the NSW Australian Curriculum 7-12 would be advantageous;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">A proven knowledge and capacity to manage all aspects of WHS issues in the Science laboratory environment including handling chemicals in compliance with regulations;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to relate with staff and students in a professional, informed, adaptable and caring manner.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">Demonstrated effective organisational skills and record keeping including attention to detail and an ability to work unsupervised;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">An ability to work collaboratively as part of an enthusiastic, energetic and busy team including contributing to the College WHS group;</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (or a willingness to undertake this qualification);</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt">First Aid and CPR Certificate.<br><br></span></li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt"><em>Please refer to the role description for an in-depth detail regarding criteria and skill set required.<br><br></em></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt"><strong>Application Process</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt">Applications are invited from interested candidates able to demonstrate a commitment to the vision of Catholic Education.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt">Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and current resume including a statement of suitability against the skills, attributes and experience as outlined in the Position Description.</span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 10pt">This position involves working with children.
