We are looking for an experienced special education teacher with great teaching, behaviour management and positive relationship skills that is comfortable being part of a high performing team. The role is a full time contract position commencing on Friday 28 January 2022.

<p>St Patrick&#39;s Primary School is a vibrant and dynamic Catholic school, 20 minutes from the northern suburbs, that invites faith filled people to work as part of a collaborative, high-performing team. </p><p> </p><p>We are looking for suitably qualified applicants with experience in a special needs primary school environment for a special education teacher role to work alongside the classrooom teachers to co-teach classes and mentor the general classroom teacher to accommodate mixed abilities and promote the objectives of pastoral care at St Patrick’s.</p><p> </p><p>Applicants should be able to demonstrate: </p><ul><li>a sound knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum and the AITSL standards; </li><li>how they would support the needs of students with additional needs; </li><li>excellent behaviour management skills based on the Restorative Practices philosophy; </li><li>excellent written and verbal communication skills and ICT skills; </li><li>the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with staff, students and families within the Catholic school and faith communities, demonstrating Catholic ethos, vision and values </li></ul><p> </p><p>As a school, we value staff that work as part of a high performing team, and who are comfortable in an environment of ongoing improvement, self-reflection, coaching/mentoring and peer interaction. </p><p> </p><p>St Patrick’s is a school committed to the safety, well-being and protection of all children in our care. A sound and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current &#39;Child Safe&#39; standards is required. A copy of the school’s Child Safe Policy and Child Safe Code of Conduct can be found on the school’s website. </p><p> </p><p>Applicants are asked to demonstrate:</p><ul><li>current VIT registration; </li><li>confidence in using ICT; </li><li>knowledge of Victorian Curriculum; </li><li>accreditation to teach RE (desirable); </li><li>a commitment to engaging students and improving outcomes; </li><li>an ability to explain how data analysis and feedback would be used to drive student learning. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Note: You must reside, and have the right to work, in Australia – overseas applicants will not be considered for this role.</p><p> </p>
