Calling all collaborative school leaders! Exciting opportunities exist for experienced School leaders to form a new Senior Leadership Team and steward the next evolution of Mount Barker Waldorf School. Up to four new positions are available equivalent to Principal, Assistant Principal and Business Manager levels.

Our School has recently engaged with staff, students, parents, alumnae and board to discover what each stakeholder group needs from leadership and governance – now and in the future.

Based on insights gained through that process, the school is evolving towards a contemporary approach to leadership and governance that remains consistent with Waldorf pedagogy. This vision includes a leadership team that is grounded in service and stewardship: collaborative and empowering leadership that inverts the traditional school hierarchy.

In broadest terms the leadership team’s role will be to:

1. Preserve the Core

• Sustain the essence of the School’s Steiner mission, maintaining high quality pedagogy;

• Assure efficient operations and financial viability;

• Ensure government requirements are met for long term sustainability.

2. Stimulate Progress

• Catalyse continuous improvement in how Steiner Principles are applied to pedagogical practice;

• Guide the school’s strategic evolution in line with pertinent emergent insights and to assure we thrive in significant changes in the wider operating environment.

3. Lead the Transition

Serving the school’s ambition, and supported by the Board, a particular focus for the coming 3 years will be to develop a culture where:

• There is a strong sense of well-being across students and staff;

• Individuals and teams are empowered to act autonomously within clear boundaries;

• Effective management assures the school is well-resourced.

Whilst the leadership team and roles will be determined during the recruitment process, we envisage the leadership team consists of three to four roles equivalent to 3.0 – 4.0 FTE.

Does this team sound like a fit for you? Do you have a mix of the personal characteristics, mindset, heart and skills that could work well as part of the leadership team that supports the next evolution of our School? If so, we want to hear from you!

For further information and full application criteria please refer to our website – www.mtbarkerwaldorf.sa.edu.au –https://tinyurl.com/Leadership-Responsibilities . Please express your interest outlining which facets of leadership and management you believe you best fit (in whatever way you feel will best demonstrate your suitability for such a leadership team role) to Deborah Bottin (dbottin@mtbarkerwaldorf.sa.edu.au) by close of business (5.00pm) Friday 19 November 2021.

Following due process, successful candidates will be invited to commence their roles in January, 2022.

For more information on the Leadership Team Responsibilities, please see attachment
