The College is seeking an outstanding educator to lead our English Faculty in engaging and delivering the College's teaching and learning priorities. This is a permanent full-time opportunity, commencing Term 1, 2022.

We are a vibrant community that values passionate and committed staff who actively support the College in its purpose as a Christ-centred community, seeking to develop extraordinary learners with a passion to serve others.</p><p>The Head of Faculty role represents an important curriculum leadership position within the College. </p><p>As <b>Head of English</b>, you will lead your faculty to deliver quality teaching and learning experiences for students that speak to the core values of the College.   Working with the Director of Teaching and Learning 7 – 12, you will provide leadership for the staff within your Faculty, oversee the management of curriculum, teaching and learning programs and associated administration matters. You will actively engage with and deliver the College’s Teaching and Learning priorities, which focus upon developing learning through research-proven and emerging pedagogical practices.<br /></p><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b><br /></p><p>Heads of Faculty at William Clarke College:<br /></p><ol><li>Are committed to the outworking of Christian faith in their leadership practice;<br /></li><li>Are able to improve learning in their subject area;</li><li>Possess a deep understanding of content knowledge in their subject area;</li><li>Are skilful in building the cohesion and effectiveness of their team; and</li><li>Provide strategic leadership to support College-wide initiatives.</li></ol><p><b>Additional Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure that the College-wide pedagogical priorities are effectively implemented in your subject area</li><li>Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure that the knowledge, skills, attitudes and scope and sequence of learning outlined in programs comply with NESA requirements</li><li>Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to develop high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting programs and registers</li><li>Drive a culture of excellence in teaching within your Faculty</li><li>Oversee the effective and efficient running of all assessments within the subject area/s</li><li>Provide leadership for the teachers within the Faculty, seeking opportunities for their professional development and career progression and providing regular, meaningful feedback</li><li>Develop and drive strategies for growth and progression of the Faculty by appropriating and adapting knowledge gained through professional development</li><li>Co-ordinate and oversee a Faculty budget</li></ul><p><b>Skills/ Attributes/ Knowledge/ Experience</b></p><ul><li>A regularly practising member of a Christian Church</li><li>A person whose educational and personal philosophies align with the College’s purpose statement and virtues </li><li>Deep understanding and articulation of challenges specific to the discipline and appropriate strategies to overcome or mitigate them</li><li>Demonstrated understanding and articulation of what learning looks like in both the Faculty and classroom, how to promote it, and equip teachers to achieve high levels of understanding amongst students </li><li>Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner with the ability to teach the subject at Higher School Certificate level</li><li>A proven record as a teacher who understands the complexities and practicalities of teaching to enable student progress </li><li>A proven record as a leader who is able to guide, motivate and influence colleagues</li><li>Relational; able to empathise, collaborate and communicate with all stakeholders </li><li>Strong people management skills; must display an ability and willingness to have ‘difficult conversations’</li><li>An individual of integrity who is equally demanding and supportive when holding others accountable</li><li>Excellent organisational skills</li></ul><p>To apply for this role, submit your Cover Letter and CV via our Careers Portal by <b>Wednesday 1 December</b>. </p><p><i>William Clarke College is a child safe workplace; all successful candidates will be subject to a Working with Children Check prior to commencement.</i></p><p><i>Under the Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021, all successful candidates are required to provide evidence of double-dose vaccination or medical contraindication.</i></p>
