Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated, skilled and collaborative College Counsellor / Psychologist to join the Pastoral Care team at the commencement of the 2022 school year.

Strongly inclusive, the College prides itself on its diversity as it welcomes students from all backgrounds and cultures.</p><p>For further information about Edmund Rice College, please visit our website - www.erc.nsw.edu.au</p><p><b><u>The Role </u></b></p><p>Edmund Rice College is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, highly motivated, skilled and collaborative College Counsellor / Psychologist to join the Pastoral Care team at the commencement of the 2022 school year.</p><p>The role of the College Counsellor / Psychologist is to promote academic success, positive psychological health and social and emotional wellbeing, delivering a range of counselling and consulting services for boys with a focus on prevention, intervention and student learning. This is achieved through a collaborative approach by supporting and advising students, staff and parents in dealing with the various dimensions of adolescence, school and family life. </p><p>The Counsellor reports directly to the Director of Pastoral Care and is a member of the College’s Pastoral Team, providing advice and support on professional matters regarding student welfare and wellbeing.</p><p><b><u>About You</u></b></p><p>The successful candidate will be a highly capable professional with proven experience in supporting the wellbeing of students.</p><p>To be considered for this position, you must be a professional who meets the following criteria:</p><p><u>Essential: </u></p><p>Relevant tertiary qualifications</p><p>The ability to work effectively and cohesively with staff and students as a member of the Pastoral Team</p><p>Knowledge and skills in approaches to adolescent development including mental health assessments and interventions</p><p>The ability to relate to boys and a practical knowledge of boys’ issues and their wellbeing</p><p>A strong duty of care for young people and a commitment to providing confidential and evidence-based service</p><p>The ability to provide psychoeducation about adolescent mental health to teaching staff</p><p>Thorough risk assessment and case management experience</p><p>The ability to collaborate with educators in formulating support programs for students </p><p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</p><p>Ability to demonstrate an understanding of current child safe principles, including legislation and guidelines  </p><p>Possess a valid Working with Children Check</p><p>A commitment to the child safeguarding principles</p><p>An understanding and commitment to the Mission and Ethos of the College in the Edmund Rice tradition</p><p><u>Desirable criteria: </u></p><p>Full registration as a psychologist or clinical psychologist</p><p>Experience in delivering wellbeing interventions, programs and staff professional development </p><p>Previous experience working as a counsellor / psychologist within a secondary school</p><p><b><u>The Process</u></b></p><p>Applications (including CV and covering letter) can be emailed to Jamon Thomas, Human Resources Manager, via jthomas&#64;erc.nsw.edu.au </p><p>The appointment of a successful candidate is conditional and based on the successful completion of all pre-employment screening for child-related employment and reference checks.</p><p>Consistent with the Public Health (COVID-19 Vaccination of Education and Care Workers) Order 2021 (“PHO”), all staff at Edmund Rice College are required to provide evidence of compliance with the PHO as a condition of employment.
