St Spyridon College is an independent, co-educational school seeking an innovative and enthusiastic History and Geography teacher to join our secondary teaching team from Term 1, 2022. The successful candidate must have a commitment to academic excellence with motivation and enthusiasm to inspire learning. The position may suit a graduate student who has recently completed their studies.

<h4><b>Success Criteria</b></h4><h4><b><br /></b></h4><h4>The successful applicant will:<br /></h4><p>• Have a degree with accredited four years of study at a recognised university or higher education institution in relevant subjects.<br /></p><p>• Be able to contribute to the strong academic culture of the school environment.<br /></p><p>• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities<br /></p><p>• Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students&#39; varying needs </p><p>• Use relevant technology to support instruction </p><p>• Observe and evaluate student&#39;s performance and development </p><p>• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments </p><p>• Maintain accurate and complete records of students&#39; progress and development<br /></p><p>• Manage student behaviour in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures<br /></p><p>• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs<br /></p><p>• Actively participate in professional learning that satisfies the requirements for Accredited PD and Elective PD, as determined by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the school’s Teacher Accreditation Authority policies and procedures. </p><p>• Maintain teacher accreditation and the requirements for professional learning in accordance with the requirements set down by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) and the school’s Teacher Accreditation Authority policies and procedures. </p><p>• Upgrade formal professional qualifications where necessary or appropriate. </p><p>• Undertake other duties as required by the Head of College or her delegate. </p><h5><br /></h5><h5>The successful candidate will possess the following core competencies:</h5><p>• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills<br /></p><p>• Motivation, dedication and enthusiasm for learning </p><p>• Positivity and a high level of emotional intelligence </p><p>• Detailed knowledge of best practice in teaching and learning, current educational trends and translating theory into practice </p><p>• High expectations for the learning and achievements of students. </p><p>• Professional presentation and conduct. </p><p>• A strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively. </p><p>• Skills in problem solving, giving guidance and direction </p><p>• Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, creative environment </p><p>• Maintaining loyalty, confidentiality and support for the school </p><p>• Willingness to actively support the Orthodox ethos of the school. </p><h4><br /></h4><h4>HOW TO APPLY </h4><p>Applications should be addressed to the Head of College via email to deanofstudies&#64;stspyridon.nsw.edu.au with the following:</p><p>• Cover Letter: Introduce yourself, the reasons for applying for the position and why you are a suitable candidate. </p><p>• Resume: Work history, educational qualifications, other relevant professional and personal experiences. </p><p>• Working With Children Check number and expiration date</p><p>• COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate</p><p> </p>
