<p>St Joseph's College, Lochinvar is seeking a temporary part time (30 hours per week) Learning Support Assistant to join the school community in 2022. St Joseph’s College, founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1883 is a co-educational secondary school providing a rich and diverse educational experience for 940 students from Years 7 to 12. Located in the stunning Hunter Valley, St Joseph’s has a blend of heritage and modern buildings which include a Chapel &amp; Heritage Centre, new Administration and Resource Centre, a purpose-built hall and associated Café &amp; Hospitality Centre, well equipped, modern Technology/Trade Centre as well as refurbished Performance and Creative Arts spaces.</p><p> </p><p> The Learning Support Assistant works under the direction of the Leader of Learning Support and in collaboration with Learning Support Teachers to support students with additional needs, supporting the development of inclusive learning environments and providing assistance to teachers to meet the specific learning needs of students with additional needs. The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle has an abiding commitment to promote the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and vulnerable adults - particularly those who participate in the life of the Diocese. All employees are required to undergo a National Police Check and, where legislated, hold a Working with Children Check. Diocesan workers are expected to personally adopt and enact the Diocese’s Safeguarding Commitment Statement. </p> <h3>Essential Criteria:</h3> <p> • Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic Education and to actively support the Catholic ethos and culture of the school <br>• Demonstrated appropriate experience and/or Certificate III in Special Education <br>• High level of communication and interpersonal skills when relating to students and other teachers with the ability to work collaboratively with school staff and members of the wider community <br>• Capacity and or experience to support individual students and groups of students with diverse learning needs. This will include, but is not limited to, children with a diagnosis or challenging behaviours. <br>• Capacity to model and develop positive, appropriate relationships with students that foster their social and emotional development <br>• Ability to assist with supervision of students during break times, at excursions and off-site activities as directed <br>• Well developed computer skills and an ability to use technology for education support <br>• Highly developed literacy and numeracy skills <br>• Demonstrated ability to contribute as a member of a team and assist in the preparation of resources and equipment implementation of personalised plans and programs to enhance student support. The applicant must provide evidence of the following: <br>• Current Paid Working with Children Check (WWCC) number <br>• Completion of Anaphylaxis training </p> <h3>Desirable Criteria:</h3> <p> </p> <h3>Renumeration:</h3> <p> Salary is in accordance with New South Wales &amp; Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020.
