<p><b>The Opportunity </b></p><p>Are you frustrated with working in an industrial model of schooling? Are you tired of schools’ sprouting phrases like contemporary innovation and 21st century learning skills, but nothing is different? And, we are over 20 years into the 21st Century! </p><p>At Faith we believe that nothing will change unless leadership, structures and processes enable and support teachers to move towards a new way of doing school. </p><p>Please note: applicants with the ability to teach Psychology will be highly regarded. The College is also recruiting for a Psychology Teacher to commence in Term 3, 2022. </p><p><b>The position attracts a very generous release time of 0.6. </b></p><p><br /></p><p><b>About the role </b></p><p>Faith Lutheran College Plainland is seeking applications for the key role of Head of Year with a commencement date of Term 3, 2022. </p><p>This role involves three (3) dimensions: </p><ul><li>Behaviour education </li><li>Student wellbeing </li><li>Community and connectedness </li></ul><p>The Head of Year will plan, schedule, and support a wide variety of social, spiritual, academic, and cultural activities for students in a particular cohort with the purpose of developing and deepening connectedness to the College community. </p><p>You will be supported by a College Executive that is committed to “awakening potential and empowering learners for purposeful lives through Christ”. </p><p>Additionally, the leadership has made College wide changes to support a new way of learning: </p><ul><li>De-siloed all subject areas including curriculum leadership </li><li>Simplified secondary timetable across all year levels </li><li>All day Wednesday program focused on wellbeing, student advocacy, exploration of student led passion projects, etc </li></ul><p>Furthermore, the College is implementing a five-year plan to move to a “stage” not “age” model of schooling across Year 7 to 12. It is anticipated that the College will remove the concept of year levels and increase flexibility to all students. </p><p>With such innovative changes we need leaders who can “dream big” and have the requisite traits such as tenacity, passion, tolerance of ambiguity, confidence, vision and flexibility. </p><p><br /></p><p><b>How to Apply </b></p><p>At Faith we value the explicit development of the full range of contemporary learning and work skills in our students to prepare them for an ever-changing world.
