<p><b>Applications are warmly invited for the position of Principal, La Salle Academy, Lithgow. </b></p><p>This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Catholic leader, who as Principal promotes the vision and mission of the Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst through Religious, Educational and Enabling Leadership. </p><p>The next Principal at La Salle will be a leader - emerging or experienced - who is: </p><p>A committed, practicing Catholic, with a passion for learning and wellbeing </p><p>A visionary educational leader, who engages with the community of students, staff, parents, parish and local community to foster the best learning opportunities for the young people of Lithgow </p><p>An outstanding communicator who actively fosters collegiality and builds capacity of staff </p><p><b>About La Salle Academy </b></p><p>La Salle Academy is Year 7-12 school community in Lithgow, a unique and fascinating town with an industrial heart but a natural, wild soul. </p><p>Surrounded by spectacular wilderness, Lithgow is the gateway to the secret treasures of Wollemi National Park, the pagodas of the Gardens of Stone, the vast Capertee Valley and dramatic Wolgan Valley, as well as world-renowned Jenolan Caves. Lithgow is located 141kms west of Sydney and has a regular train service to Sydney via the Blue Mountains. </p><p>La Salle was established in 1953 by the De La Salle brothers, as a Catholic school for boys. The Sisters of St Joseph joined in partnership with the De La Salle order. By 1995, the school was operated solely by lay staff. The Academy commenced its first Year 11 cohort in 1997. </p><p>With enrolments of around 250, La Salle Academy supports enrolments west toward Bathurst, south toward Oberon and back into the Blue Mountains. </p><p><b>Role and Responsibilities </b></p><p>The Catholic school principal serves as a Christ-centred leader who models the principles of our Quality Catholic Education framework. The principal leads across the school community to form the school as a centre of faith, inclusion and missionary discipleship. They nurture and enhance the school as a professional learning community that is committed to high levels of learning for all. </p><p>The Principal has responsibility for supporting and monitoring the learning and growth of committed teachers and setting high standards for students and staff performance, enabling all to make a positive contribution to the world. Based on high levels of relational trust, the principal ensures mutual respect and positive, professional and caring relationships. The principal prioritises equity and sustainability in applying the resources to build a high performing school consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. </p><p>In all professional areas, the Principal is responsible to the Executive Director of Schools. </p><p><b>Commencement </b></p><p>Commencement is negotiable, ideally to start in Term 4, 2022 but with the scope to commence the new school year in 2023. </p><p>The initial Principal appointment is for 3 years.
