The successful applicant will have the option of a second five (5) year contract, subject to successful review.</p><p> </p><p><b>ABOUT MATER DEI </b></p><p>Mater Dei is a multi-faceted mission-driven Catholic Organisation. Mater Dei has grown significantly since it was established in 1910 and today comprises a K-12 co-educational School for students with intellectual disability, a NextPath Post School Program for young adults with disability, a NextPath Assessment and Therapy service for children and young adults, and an Early Childhood Education Program that includes a community based preschool. Mater Dei also operates a Foundation to support its many good works. </p><p>Governed by a committed and highly supportive Board of Directors, Mater Dei is a member of the community of ten schools across Australia comprising Good Samaritan Education (GSE). Established in 2011 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, the mission of GSE is to sustain and nurture Catholic schools as Good Samaritan Benedictine communities of learning. Mater Dei is a highly respected and much-loved Organisation in the rapidly growing south-west region of Sydney and is located on magnificent acreage in Camden. </p><p>Mater Dei is guided by the Good Samaritan Philosophy of Education and shaped by a commitment to the Benedictine values of peace, prayer, service, hospitality, stewardship and community. All staff at Mater Dei embrace the belief that all people are created with equal dignity, that there is a God-given potential residing in every person and that disability does not diminish a person’s right to fully participate in society as a self-determined citizen. Mater Dei is renowned for its life enriching, innovative education, and active engagement in the wider community which has a significant impact on influencing attitudes towards disability.</p><p><b>ABOUT THE ROLE</b><br /></p><p>The Deputy Principal is directly responsible to the CEO/Principal for the performance of their duties. Whilst Mater Dei School only has an enrolment of 145 students, the high level of complexity and student need create a unique environment that requires outstanding leadership, energy and innovation. As the CEO/Principal is also responsible for a number of other programs, the Deputy Principal is required to provide a higher level of autonomy and professional judgement in the day-to-day running of the school than might be the case in other school settings. The position is normally non-teaching, however, a regular presence in classrooms working with staff is an expectation. The Deputy Principal is currently supported by a Personal Assistant, Assistant Principal and Executive team of Middle Leaders. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Deputy Principal is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the K-12 School, co-contributing to creating life-enriching education throughout the entire Mater Dei organisation. They are responsible for implementing Mater Dei’s organisational Strategic Plan in the context of the School, and are a key member of the Mater Dei Leadership Team and School Executive. They will deputise for the CEO/Principal when they are absent from the School.<br /></p><p><b>REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS </b></p><p>Mater Dei is a party to Catholic Independent Schools (Teachers – Model A) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2017, This senior position attracts a Level 4 Leadership allowance in addition to the applicant’s substantive teaching salary. Mater Dei offers a highly supportive work and purpose-driven environment in magnificent surroundings with significant professional development opportunities and additional student vacation periods. </p><p><b>SELECTION CRITERIA </b></p><p>We are looking for someone who is: </p><p>• A reflective and contemporary Catholic with high capacity to articulate and embody the Good Samaritan Benedictine tradition and values </p><p>• An inspirational leader who is an outstanding communicator and employs a collaborative, compassionate and people focused approach </p><p>• An exemplary teacher committed to implementing evidence-based contemporary pedagogy and commitment to developing others </p><p>• Appropriately experienced and/or qualified in special education </p><p>• Highly organised, administratively sound and technologically savvy (with an ability to work in a MacBook environment) </p><p>• Energetic with a strong work-ethic and commitment to improvement and growth </p><p>• Passionate about educating students with intellectual disability and advocating for an inclusive society where diversity and difference is highly valued </p><p><b>REQUIREMENTS </b></p><p>• The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Check </p><p>• Accreditation to teach with NESA </p><p>• COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment in accord with our Vaccination Policy.
