<p><i>Established in 1879, St Aloysius&#39; College is a Catholic, Jesuit day school for boys from Year 3 to Year 12. Situated in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it has an enrolment of over 1200 students. </i></p><p><i>The College is conducted by the Society of Jesus and is part of a worldwide network of Jesuit primary and secondary schools and universities. </i></p><p><b>About the Role </b></p><p>Due to an internal promotion, St Aloysius’ College is seeking to appoint an outstanding educational leader to the role of Head of Department – English, to commence in January 2023. </p><p>Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Head of Department - English is responsible for leading the academic and administrative functions of the department, coordinating the development and implementation of innovative teaching programs aligned to the St Aloysius’ College Learning Framework and the strategic priorities of the College. The successful candidate will be expected to lead, inspire and mentor faculty staff across Years 7 – 12, demonstrating a commitment to a culture of professionalism with a focus on the ongoing professional learning and development of staff consistent with the College’s mission. </p><p>The Head of English is a full-time position and will initially be on a 3-year contract. </p><p><b>About You </b></p><p>To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate: </p><ul><li>Alignment to the Christian values and mission of the College; </li><li>Possess Secondary teaching qualifications at Masters level, specifically English, and/or equivalent skills and experience; </li><li>Demonstrated collegial leadership at various capacities within a school; </li><li>Proven experience of planning and achieving strategic outcomes at departmental level or in another capacity within a school; </li><li>Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teachers in the development, implementation and evaluation of NESA based programs; </li><li>Proven leadership of a collaborative culture of professional learning to support best practice in teaching and the achievement of outstanding learning outcomes; </li><li>Possess understanding of change management and capability to facilitate change with team members to lead them in the correct direction and motivate them to continuously improve and innovate; </li><li>High level of interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with staff, students, parents and external stakeholders; </li><li>Excellent ICT skills and the ability to integrate technology into learning programs to improve educational outcomes; </li><li>Strong commitment to child safeguarding principles; </li><li>Possess a valid Working with Children Check. </li></ul><p><b>How to apply </b></p><p>For more information about the College, this opportunity, selection criteria and the application process please visit the College website: https://www.staloysius.nsw.edu.au/about-us/employment/current-opportunities </p><p>Only applications received via recruitment&#64;staloysius.nsw.edu.au will be considered, and St Aloysius’ College reserves the right not to proceed with any appointment. </p><p>St Aloysius’ College is committed to protecting children and young people from harm.
