Reporting to the Property Manager Old Government House and Experiment Farm Cottage (OGH & EFC), this position coordinates the delivery of education programs at OGH & EFC. They will also assist with the development of the programs in conjunction with the Education Coordinator.

<p><b>Title: Education Officer </b></p><p><b>Location: Experiment Farm Cottage, Harris Park and Old Government House, Parramatta </b></p><p><b>Reporting to: Property Manager OGH &amp; EFC </b></p><p><b>Direct Reports: Nil (assists in managing education volunteer roster)</b><br /></p><p><b>Hours: Casual </b></p><p><b>Salary: $31.93/hr plus super </b></p><p><b>Overview</b><br /></p><p>The National Trust is the largest community based, not-for-profit conservation organisation in Australia, operating for more than 70 years. Our vision is to bring the heritage of New South Wales to life for future generations. </p><p>World Heritage listed Old Government House (OGH) is the oldest surviving public building in Australia. Built by convicts, it became the decision-making centre of the colony and served as the ‘country residence’ for the first ten Governors of Australia. Experiment Farm Cottage (EFC) is the site of Australia’s first land grant and is named after the successful self-sufficiency experiment conducted there by James Ruse. Both properties are operated as historic house museums. </p><p>The National Trust is seeking a dynamic and engaging educator to work with our volunteers in the delivery of education programs at OGH &amp; EFC. They will also assist with the development of the programs in conjunction with the Education Coordinator. This is a Casual position for approx. 6 hours per week. The days of working will depend on property activities and a high degree of flexibility is essential. There is likely to be extra shifts available depending on school bookings. </p><p><b>About the Role </b></p><p>Reporting directly to the Property Manager, you will be responsible for: </p><ul><li> Scheduling, delivering and/or assisting education volunteers in the delivery of education programs and related activities </li><li> Rostering education volunteers to ensure all bookings are adequately resourced </li><li> Management of the school bookings including ensuring the required paperwork is completed before the visit </li><li> Assisting the Property Manager &amp; the National Trust Education Coordinator to develop and review education programs, in consultation with education volunteers </li><li> Providing leadership and support to volunteers, with a particular focus on supporting education volunteers </li><li> Training volunteers at both properties within National Trust guidelines to ensure they are adequately informed and skilled in program delivery </li></ul><p><b>About You </b></p><p>Ideally you will hold a qualification in Education, Heritage Studies or other relevant discipline and have experience in the delivery of museum or heritage based-education programs. We’re looking for someone who can run our education programs like clockwork, ensuring that our volunteers are properly trained and the programs sufficiently resourced. </p><p>You’re an educator and an innovator who can work with our Education Coordinator to deliver a variety of curriculum based programs for a range of audiences.
