We offer crisis accommodation and housing services, alternative high school education, alcohol and other drugs counselling, youth justice support, life skills and employment programs, cultural support and community engagement, among other services. We focus on early interventions that empower young people and strengthen communities. </p><p><b>About us: </b></p><p>YOTS prides itself in being able to meet student&#39;s needs that currently cannot be met in mainstream schooling. Our schools offer young people who have become disengaged from education an opportunity to achieve either the Record of School Achievement, Higher School Certificate or the skills they require to go on to further vocational education, apprenticeships and/or employment. </p><p>At The Bowen College in Maroubra, we work to reignite a passion for learning by providing engaging and meaningful learning experiences as part our independent, Stage 5 NESA registered and accredited school. Students are able to re-engage in education with additional support, and progress toward their goals in our small setting for 12 young people. </p><p>Our success is based on the provision of individual learning adjustments within and outside of the classroom. We provide wrap-around support through quality teachers, SLSO, Youth Workers and counselling staff. We meet NESA curriculum outcomes through a success-based program, providing opportunities for students to achieve and contribute positively within the school and wider community. </p><p><b>Responsibilities of the Role: </b></p><p>• Report to the School Principal and be responsible for approximately 5-6 direct reports including teachers and school support staff. </p><p>• Run the day-to-day operations of the school and facilitate activities, including responsibilities for curriculum, staffing and student/staff welfare. </p><p>• Lead a skilled team to achieve positive outcomes for disadvantaged youth while actively contributing to the professional growth and development of YOTS Education services and strategic plan </p><p>• Lead and manage staff by promoting a collaborative culture that fosters professional growth. </p><p>• Implement and manage efficient and effective administrative and financial practices to meet legal policy and compliance. </p><p>• Monitor, evaluate and adapt programs to meet identified outcomes. </p><p>• Teaching is not a primary responsibility of the role, may be required at times. </p><p><b>Experience required: </b></p><p>• Capacity to initiate and motivate improvement in high school education standards through engaging and flexible lessons and learning programs </p><p>• Demonstrated knowledge of student welfare and wellbeing best practice, including the provision of individual learning plans and support </p><p>• Experience in providing support to students transitioning from school to TAFE/work and work experience </p><p>• Capability in writing, implementing and evaluating educational programs to proactively engage students </p><p>• Experience and capacity to lead the team in using technology effectively and creatively within the classroom to enhance and support student learning </p><p>• Proven ability to facilitate implementation of educational objectives and NESA compliance requirements </p><p>• Ability to mentor and coach staff to improve performance </p><p>• Dedication to implementing equal opportunity principles </p><p>• Proven ability to monitor, evaluate and adapt programs to meet identified outcomes </p><p>• Experience in maintaining current awareness and understanding of educational issues and trends and adapting education programs to ensure best practice in student education is achieved </p><p><b>Qualifications: </b></p><p>• An accredited four year undergraduate teaching degree. Appropriate degrees include a Bachelor of Education (Secondary), or a combined or double degree such as a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education (Secondary); or </p><p>• A bachelor degree (such as a Bachelor of Arts or Science) coupled with an accredited graduate entry teaching degree such as a Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Master of Teaching (Secondary); and </p><p>• Current registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). </p><p><b>What we can offer you: </b></p><p>• The opportunity to work for an iconic NFP where you will help make sustainable change </p><p>• Salary packaging up to $15,900 </p><p>• Access to EAP for you and your family </p><p>• Rewards and Benefits program </p><p>• Individual Training and Development program </p><p>If you are successful, you will be required to obtain a valid NSW Working With Children Check, Police check, Senior First Aid certificate, Drivers License and have unrestricted Australian working rights. </p><p>At YOTS, diversity, equity and inclusion are part of our DNA.
