<p><b>Location: </b>Penola Catholic College - Emu Plains</p><p>The Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta is looking for a passionate and dedicated Laboratory Assistant to provide support and assistance to our teachers.</p> <p>Penola Catholic College is a contemporary co-educational learning community with high performing HSC results.</p> <p>We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant who will maintain the laboratories, equipment and materials in a manner which allows their efficient use by the school’s teaching staff and students.</p> <p>The successful applicant will be working closely with the Science teachers, and they will coordinate and prepare tasks and practical activities for the classroom. &nbsp;This role will require flexibility to work within the school’s curriculum timetable.</p> <p>This position is temporary for 2023 to commence on 27 January 2023. This position is for 60 hours per fortnight to be worked Monday to Friday each week 6 hours per day.</p> <p>The Laboratory Assistant is accountable for:</p> <p>-Employees are required to support the mission, teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church’s work in schools.</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines</p> <p>-Demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel</p> <p>-Strong planning and organisation skills</p> <p>-Demonstrated ability to maintain the quality of assigned work</p> <p>-Preparation of practical work for use in the classroom, including general and complex laboratory experiments</p> <p>-Preparing simple chemical solutions and, under instruction, more complicated<br>solutions</p> <p>-Developing and using appropriate storage systems, including for dangerous and toxic substances consistent with material safety data sheets</p> <p><em>The&nbsp;<strong>successful applicant</strong>&nbsp;will have:</em></p> <ul> <li>The ability to maintain the school laboratory and preparation room in a clean and workable order.</li> <li>Experience in preparation of laboratory solutions and handle, store and dispose of chemicals in compliance with regulations.</li> <li>Sound knowledge of general scientific equipment and ability to maintain equipment.</li> <li>Ability to prepare, provide and store equipment and resources for practical work for science classes and ensure equipment is cleaned and in good working order, and organise repairs as necessary.</li> <li>Demonstrated experience maintaining a safe working environment.</li> <li>Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and be responsible and accountable for own work with the capacity and willingness to work in a team environment.</li> <li>Excellent written communication skills and strong verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.</li> </ul> <p>The applicant must submit with their application the following:</p> <ul> <li>A current CV</li> <li>Nominated professional referees, must be two</li> <li>Current Working With Children’s Check</li> </ul> <p>Typical Experience and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Tertiary qualifications in the relevant area of study</li> <li>Appropriate demonstrated experience</li> </ul> <p dir="ltr">The Organisation</p> <p dir="ltr">Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta provides quality learning and teaching in a faith-centred environment across 83 primary and secondary schools and within early learning and out of school hours care centres in Western Sydney.&nbsp;</p> <p dir="ltr">This position involves working with children.
