<p><b>St Leonard’s Primary School is seeking a Learning Support Officer </b></p><p>Applications are invited from qualified Learning Support Officers to join a team dedicated to achieving engaging learning experiences that challenge children to achieve their personal best. The position is for the 2023 school year. </p><p>This is a 4 day position with the preferred being hours being 9am - 1:30pm each day from Monday to Thursday. These hours are negotiable. The salary is dependent on experience as stated in VCEMEA 2018. </p><p>The successful applicant will work under the direction of the Learning Diversity Leader and classroom teachers to support student learning through individual and small group work both within and outside of the classroom in our wellbeing centre. </p><p><b>Special Requirements: </b></p><p>Applicants must have: </p><ul><li>A current Working With Children Check </li><li>A current Police Check </li><li>Three professional referees - including contact number, role and place of employment </li><li>Have qualifications, or a willingness to to work towards  qualifications in Education Support such as Certificate 4 </li></ul><p><b>Child Safety </b></p><p>St Leonard’s has a zero tolerance for child abuse and all adults in our school have a responsibility to care for children and young people, to positively promote their wellbeing and to protect them from any kind of harm or abuse. </p><p><b>Roles and Responsibilities </b></p><p>It is expected that the successful applicant will: </p><ul><li>be committed to the values and ethos of Catholic education<br /></li><li>be highly motivated, committed, positive, friendly and enthusiastic </li><li>have experience working with students with a diverse range of needs </li><li>have experience or an openness to learn to work with children with ASD and ADHD </li><li>display effective communication and organisational skills and the ability to be flexible, proactive and resourceful </li><li>use initiative within the class environment to ensure optimal student support </li><li>be able to communicate frequently and sensitively with staff and families when required </li><li>have the capacity to cater effectively for a diverse range of learning needs </li><li>be able to build positive relationships with children and assist in creating learning environments where all are valued and challenged </li><li>demonstrate an understanding of child safety and the appropriate obligations and behaviours when engaging with students </li><li>be committed to professional learning and ongoing improvement </li></ul><p><br /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>
