The Food Tech Assistant provides assistance in the form of support to teachers, individuals and/or groups of students in a classroom setting.
<p><b>Location: </b>Santa Sophia Catholic College - Box Hill</p><p dir="ltr">Santa Sophia Catholic College is a Catholic learning community that serves the dynamic new area of Box Hill. It is establishing a new approach for pre-school to post school learning within an extended school day. It achieves this through a developmental and student-centred approach to learning with a focus on ‘learning how to learn’. </p>
<p dir="ltr">The position falls under the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 Classification School Administrative Services Level 4 and is paid accordingly.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Position Objective:</p>
<p dir="ltr">The TAS Kitchen Assistant works collaboratively with other school staff to provide support and assistance to teachers, students and school leadership in the successful delivery of school learning and wellbeing outcomes. </p>
<p dir="ltr">This position provides support and assistance to teachers and students in a classroom setting to groups of students, or to support the operation of curriculum-related services in a school, such as those provided by a kitchen and hospitality space.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Knowledge, Skills and Experience:</p>
<p dir="ltr">A TAS Kitchen Assistant Assistant (Level 4):</p>

<p dir="ltr">Applies knowledge with depth in some areas and a broad range of skills in a variety of roles and tasks;</p>

<p dir="ltr">Uses discretion and judgement in planning and organising and achieving outcomes in time constraints;</p>

<p dir="ltr">Works under general direction, sometimes working semi-autonomously and may be required to supervise other Classroom and Learning Support Services employees; and,</p>

<p dir="ltr">Support and assist Teachers and students.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">To support the operation of curriculum-related services at Santa Sophia Catholic College.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Research reference material under the direction of a teacher</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Preparation of ingredients and special equipment for daily lessons (including catering functions) according to orders and in consultation with teaching staff.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Preparation of displays, charts, diagrams and models.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ordering. receiving, issuing, distributing, stock-taking and safeguarding of teaching resources, goods, supplies, stores, materials and equipment, other than dangerous goods.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Knowledge and ability to operate kitchen equipment, including notification of breakdowns and servicing requirements.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ensure the quality of the assigned work is carried out to a high standard.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ensure the food preparation areas are compliant with the food safety handling policy set down by the food authorities and the school.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ensuring that the commercial kitchen and the food tech kitchen floors and surfaces are clean at all times and spillages are addressed immediately so as to avoid incidents.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Ensuring a risk assessment has been carried out for “practical classes” </p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Assist with catering needs for special events under the direction of the Business Manager or the PA to the Principal.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Responsible for ensuring that WHS policies and procedures are followed.</p>
</li>
<li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type: disc">
<p dir="ltr">Duties as directed by the Principal or members of the Leadership team.</p>
</li>

<p dir="ltr">The Organisation</p>
