In a vibrant learning community, students are encouraged to explore and develop their talents to the fullest and aim for excellence in all their endeavours.</p><p>As a long-standing Catholic school for boys in the Edmund Rice tradition, Parade College strives to be a learning community that offers best practice education and pastoral care to its students to foster fullness of life and holistic growth for all.<br /></p><p><b>The Position</b></p><p>We are seeking an experienced and passionate Youth Worker who enjoys the challenge of establishing rapport with students and working within a team of passionate youth wellbeing professionals.<br /></p><p>We are a passionate College community dedicated to the College&#39;s mission of supporting and enabling excellent educational outcomes. The Youth Worker is a member of the Student Wellbeing Support Team and is responsible for supporting students with enhancing their wellbeing – personal, social, educational. This is realised through a continuum of counselling and wellbeing services designed to ensure student wellbeing and support addresses any barriers to learning, for example family and developmental issues. As such, the emphasis is on Primary Prevention, Early Intervention, Intervention, and Restoring Wellbeing.<br /></p><p>As a Youth Worker, you will be approachable and available to students, developing and implementing programmes aimed at nurturing relationships and meeting the specific needs of students.  Your experience working with students and your knowledge of trauma, mental health and social and emotional development compliments your innate ability to develop genuine rapport and authentically engage with young people.<br /></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b><br /></p><p>The Youth Worker position includes the following responsibilities:<br /></p><ul><li>Being approachable and available to students during recess and lunch breaks and out-of-classroom activities, as well as being involved in classes as negotiated with teaching staff.<br /></li><li>Developing and implementing lunchtime programmes aimed at nurturing relationships and meeting the specific needs of students.</li><li>Attending and actively contributing to camps, excursions, sporting events and other extra-curricular events where appropriate and required.</li><li>Promote and support service learning and social justice activities across the College.</li><li>In conjunction with key pastoral staff, initiate and coordinate the engagement of guest speakers/artists aligned with the enhancement of student wellbeing.</li><li>Collaborating with other youth workers serving in similar educational settings to develop and further the impact of the role within the College.</li></ul><p><b>The successful candidate will demonstrate the following Skills and Attributes:</b></p><ul><li>Holds relevant qualifications in community/youth services, education or similar discipline and maintains registration with AHPRA or is an accredited member of another relevant professional body e.g. the Australian Association of Social Workers.<br /></li><li>Demonstrated experience, skills and knowledge with working with students with trauma histories and/or are &#39;at risk&#39; of being disenfranchised from school (desired).</li><li>Experience in effective case management and facilitation (desired).</li><li>Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and skills.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to manage competing priorities.</li><li>An understanding of trauma, mental health and social and emotional development.</li><li>Capacity to make sound professional judgements with some autonomy.</li></ul><p><b>Application Requirements </b></p><p><b> </b>In preparing an application, please read the advertisement and position description carefully to ensure that you can demonstrate your ability to meet the position requirements and have a good understanding of the role. </p><p> Applications must include: </p><ul><li>a <b>covering letter </b></li><li>a separate statement addressing the <b>Key Selection Criteria</b> addressing your skills, qualifications and experience relevant to the role; together with</li><li>a current <b>Curriculum Vitae</b>.</li></ul><p> Please visit the College website for further information:  https://www.parade.vic.edu.au/school/employment</p><p><b>Applications close at 4pm, Thursday 1 June 2022.  </b><i>(interviews may be held during the application period)</i></p><p><i>Parade College acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work. </i></p><p><i> </i><i>This community is committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of all children in our care. </i></p>
